This show is like a nonstop barrage of cute smiles.
One thing to take note about S1 8man and S2 8man (or if you want, pre-genuine[/spoiler] and post-genuine) 8man is that early 8man is the one with the funny monologues everyone rememes, like youth is a lie and bear habitats and whatever. It's also what the /8maninhighschool/ crow tend to cling onto as the likeable version of 8man, as compared to the dramafest we have right now
This is interesting because as Komachi points out later on 8man only gets onto these tangents when he's trying to bullshit his way out of something - the more bullshit it is, the harder he's trying to evade reality. The more he opens up to the service club, the less we get these moments. The most recent is his Chiba monologue, which he blatantly admits is a ploy to avoid noticing how kawaii Iroha is
Basically: if anyone seriously wants S1 8man/loner 8man and his monologues back, you're basically asking for the version of 8man who constantly lies to himself and runs away
