Really, this all probably depends on whether or not the Eyes actually existed in Gil's time. On the other hand. I have a hard time believeing MEoDP had a prototype, and if they just plain didn't exist when he lived, there's no way he would know about them. The most he would get out of it is that Shiki is really weird, probably. That is assuming MEoDP didn't first appear in Uruk, which is certainly possible.
