What I said before in a different thread basically:
It's episodic, that's first of all, so don't expect it to be abundant in plot, it's more about world building, monster of the week and cool fights with character development. The superpowers are cool/interesting (you've got one guy who tosses crosses and transmutes others into crosses too, one guy with ice powers, but using them interestingly enough, one buy with a flame sword who burns his blood to make them, one chic who shoots electricity shots, one crazy driver who uses technology, one chic who has no superpower but being invisible basically and being able to analyze data etc and what else I am forgetting). Volumes 4,5,6,7 had little to do with important plot points.
Volumes 8 and 9 switched again to the main plot and Klaus (red-haired chap) from what I've seen from RAWs and shit hit the fan
Also - fuck knows what's with all people saying it's gay. It literally has not a single gay moment, unless you're a closet homo yourself and just 2 men standing next to each other is already gay for you.
Even those Leon (eye-powered dude) and Zap (silver-haired dude) bro/comedy moments are not gay at all, considering how much of a freakin womanizer Zap is (he actually fucks chics in the manga).

Nothing beyond the first volume is scanlated. It's been licensed by Viz for ages and relatively unknown so no other group bothered to pick it up.
I read the the first 4 volumes and like said above, it's long episodic stories, about 1-2 per volume. I don't agree that the manga was boring. The stories are fun and full of stylish action, but I'm a fan of world building and characters stories, even if the plot is stalled. (I've read gintama and detective conan. Take that as proof of my taste being shit or otherwise. Either way I'm saying that as someone used to playing the waiting game.). The anime is going to do original material but considering that the pilot chapter was 133 pages and cleverly adapted to fit into 24 minutes, I'd say we'd get plenty of the source material before it goes in its own direction. Bones has been pretty transparent about the original character this time and promoting her heavily, so I have hopes this was something that the team wanted to do opposed to being forced to pull an original ending out of their asses.
Plus I like Matsumoto Rie's direction.

What's confusing about it? First 3 volumes of the manga are more plot related (you get to know more about Klaus, about Leon, about the organisation, about the main enemies, underground mafia, etc etc). After that the volumes become less plot focused and more character and world building focused. Everything is episodic.
You can't read it anywhere, except for the first 3 chapters. I scanned and posted the volumes - the first 4, about 1 year ago.
It's good if it's 2 cour, but it's going to be crap at the end if only 1 cour (guaranteed, guaranteed original ending).

I do get some similarities with Gintama, and I dont mean just the voice cast. It's about a group dysfunctional super powered misfits with plot interspaced between short stories. Hell, one story is about Leo, Zapp and Zed spending the whole time just to get some grub but keep getting into fights, which reminded me of that ridiculous story of Gin trying to buy a fan. I really hope the anime does that story. Leo eats really terrible food, starts tripping balls, and has an out of body experience.

Well, yeah, the fact that they even had to re-use the ONA scenes show that they didn't have much to work with in terms of budget or time in the first place, although I thought she managed to add them in well. While I personally found the exposition dumps to be interesting, it was a shame that they didn't manage to put anything visually appealing throughout them (that shitty walk scene) and it definitely would have benefited from an extra episode, as you said.
I still love the series though and Matsumoto's work on the ONAs and her various Precure episodes, so I'm still excited to see what she'll do for Kekkai Sensen.

I really think people give Kyousougiga too much of a hard time considering how little Toei actually aided them, by only giving the team the absolute bare minimum, but I can't really blame people for being disappointed when the ONAs where so great and promised so much.
