Honestly though, Rayet was probably the one character that had the most chemistry with Inaho. Throughout the series she gains development with Inaho. I liked episode 5 of this season where Inaho goes out of his way to reassure and comfort Rayet that she's different from the other Martians. It was also a little bit neat how that carried over to the next episode where Rayet is the one that was carrying him over to the building and was apparently the only one informed of his plan.

Slaine was practically already at the serving of Saazabaum and was more ambitious and evil. There was no ambiguity, the point of the story was just the love between Ass-Hime and Inaho with Slane that gets in the way.

What makes you think it wasn't Slaine's idea or that Slaine doesn't agree or wants this? At the last episode, he sabotaged Vers side from doing an effective war come back so Ass could not be defied in a successful way.
Slaine's dream was always peace and coexistence and his aspiration was to be of use to Ass not expecting anything in return. He never sought anything for himself, he was probably expecting death if he succeeded too. With his charge and actions in the last episode, he ensured this was going to happen and he wanted to eliminate himself so Ass wouldn't find a strong opponent. Inaho and Ass saved his life and gave him a chance to start over, Slaine is dead but he as person is not and he accomplished what he wanted: peace, Aldnoah becoming open to everyone (well not the way he exactly wanted, but this was a point he addressed), be of use to the princess and knowing that she didn't want him to die helped him to face his guilty conscience and be at peace with his actions and deeds. Slaine might not have started the war but he still killed people and did shit he hated because he's a naturally kind and gentle person. He couldn't live with himself but in the end he accepted it and felt free.
