lt's not shit, it's just a lot drier than S1 because the focus changed, and also now there's too much shit happening at once. There's no room to breathe and let everything sink in, because there are too many characters and plot points that you have to be following at any one time, which hurts the atmosphere a lot. It also feels a lot less romantic than the first season, first in the sense that S1 was all about "twisted love", S2 seems to put that on the backburner while putting the focus on gang politics, and second in that S2 lacks that sense of wonder that you feel when you visit a big city for the first time, Durarara S1 was all about that feeling for me. Now it's just, okay this person did this, this person did that, which made this happen to this other person.

There was one moment very early on in S2 where that idol chick realized she wasn't alone in the universe, and the when she let that fact sink in, with tears flowing, laughter spilling uncontrollably, and the music rising in volume. THAT'S what made me fall in love with this series. That no matter how fucked up these characters are, they all deserve a chance at happiness.
