The point of the arc was to show that Yukino wasn't as perfect as he thought she was and for him to accept that and be on equal grounds. Also, the fact that while she doesn't lie, she doesn't say the truth either. And a theme that got omitted was that words don't always mean what they mean hence the "Now I know you" from the "I didn't know you at all."
