Well with the Free movie announced (which was inevitable), it looks like KyoAni can finally move away from CTFK and on to new projects. Do you think they'll start going back to Kadokawa or will they do stuff like Euphonium and more traditional novel adaptations? Or will they make a whole new set of KyoAni originals based off their publishing imprint?
They actually need to do an original, A studio of Kyoani's caliber not doing a full blown original is disgusting.
They should do stuff with KEY again.

They need to be more ambitious. At this point, KyoAni has proven that they can basically animate anything, and with a few exceptions they can animate pretty much everything better than anyone else can.
Yet they keep restricting themselves to lowbrow, unambitious projects. Just imagine them doing a fullblown magical girls show or a sci-fi series or a fantasy setting where they could genuinely play with all the technique, resources and skill they have at their disposal.
Basically, this >>122910987 is what I want to see KyoAni do. Don't get me wrong, I love their comfy high school shows. K-On will forever be one of my favourites, I just wish KyoAni wouldn't just waste its potential like it does.
And they also need to stop accepting terrible scripts. Whoever approved Tamako Market needs to be fucking fired.

I feel like KyoAni doesn't really know what it wants. I mean what is there goal? Why did they make Amagi. I'm not expecting Sunrise money but they must be pretty fucking rich by now.
Are they just hoarding money so that they can make their own shows for the next 10 years? I'm literally not seeing a creative goal.
That doesn't mean that I don't like their shows but they just seem kind of lost.
