Having a few ecchi/ fanservise anime is alright.
What annoys me is when it takes over the industry and they try to inject it into everything as a substitute for a decent plot/ characters.
It also bugs me that the put it in series and scenes where it just feels out of place. Like when there's supposed a serious scene and all of a sudden you got tits in your face.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's ok if it's limited to a few shows in it's containment genre, but it's annoying and ruins the mood everywhere else. Plus having too many ecchi series squanders resources that could be used to make shows that are actually good.

Ecchi anime where it's a big theme is fine ( most harems, ladies vs butlers etc)
It's ok in small amounts in other, non serious anime (gochusa, yuyushiki etc)
It should stay completely out of serious anime, unless said serious anime is seikon no quaser
Almost all anime is completely filled with ecchi at this point so unless it it straight softcore porn like Kiss x Sis it sort of just just lands flat.

Depends on the context.
I don't watch harem anime, which is where it is very prevalent,but say KLK the ecchi didn't bother me. Bakemono (which is a harem) I was fine with it in that show since it was done at least in a tasteful manner. Nise and on it become unbearable and distracting. It it forced me to drop the show completely.
In some shows where it is one of the main focal points, HSotD and upcoming Prison School, it would be absolutely retarded to complain about it in this context because that is what draws you to the show.
