It was so mediocre. I tried watching it to understand why normies were going gaga over it but just dropped it after 30 minutes and skipped through the seek bar to the ending in several jumps to get the gist of the remainder.
It has that one 'good' song but really I thought it no better or pleasant than any other Disney hit song from prior movies.

The animation, though, it just broke all of the rules so I'm surprised it did well.
After an episode or two, I felt like what I wasn't "bad" art, drawing, or animation; I described it to a friend as "maybe this is an externalization of how ugly every character is on the inside"
I'm still not sure, because the jagged lines and jumpy/inconsistent animation never did anything to hurt the story later, and they got harder and harder to notice as time went by... but I still don't know what they were thinking.

It would be stupid (although convenient to shitposting) to assume such a thing, as it only takes into consideration a tiny portion of his work and not it as a whole. From this history, there's much more evidence he would put out shows once every two years, so the four-year gap "pattern" is grossly mistaken (as any pattern in this case is).
