Space Dandy's while never outright bad is too hit-and-miss. Ambitious and very creative, but had as many meh episodes as it had good ones.
Rolling Girls is a far too loose an intepretation of sci-fi just because it has aliens and a distant future setting, nevermind the mediocre quality of the show. It's wacky and FLCL-inspired and centers on a girls' roadtrip; the aliens and spaceships are all superfluous.
The first guy was right, the last good, definitive sci-fi was Sidonia, and there just hasn't been anything like it since last fall.
