It makes it an enjoyable show for me. It's fun to speculate things about characters, trying to figure out their motives from what is given about them. It is a humanizing thing to try to understand a person, and some people could stand to do a lot of that. There's a lot of interesting motivations and characterization that people like to claim isn't there, and I imagine it's because they don't even try to grasp the characters.
