What did /a/ think of this show?
>>
I'm sad it's over. I wish it was longer.
>>
It was my favorite of 2014.
>>
>>122728657
Watched 3 episodes and I dropped it hard. Even if they really, REALLY wanted to copy-paste Lupin and Zenigata, I couldn't stand it. I just hate everything about the main.

Besides that, all the cheap 3DCGI hurt my eyes, and the cliche supercute girl that is actually a demon god or w/e was just too much. Sad, because I really enjoyed that dance in episode 2. Shame.
>>
>>122728778

>>122728657
It was great OP
>>
>>122728657
I loved it but it had problems. The sense of adventure died down when they stuck around that castle for a while. I was also kind of annoyed that very little of the original PV ended up making it int the show.
>>
>>122728657
I still wonder if i will ever get the OP song to download...
>>
Wasted potential the show. It all fell apart after few good episodes.
>>
>>122728657
Waiting for the full bluray to come out so i can torrent and watch.
>>
>>122728657
Strong start but got kinda meh at the middle, climax was kinda weak too.
>>
I hope to see more of the same thing in the next season. It was adventure and made me feel nostalgic. Theres so little of it these days.
>>
Best first episode i have ever seen
>>
Well, Carrot guy beat the show, along with Drunken Greek :)

Nice IMO, unusual animation, and dark climat make it 8.5/10 for me.

+ Pretty good OP if you ask me!

>>122729423
I agree with this one. Really a shame, first ep and the dance scene gave me some hopes.
>>
Should have just stayed as random adventures of Favaro and Kaiser. The big dumb plot around Amira was both big and dumb
>>
The funnest show I've watched in a while. I wish the season had been longer, but I'm still satisfied with what we got.
>>
I liked it, but as other anons already said the second half was somewhat disappointing
>>
>>122730310
azazel when ?
>>
>>122730571
Rest assured, first volume was already and the rest will be as well.
>>
>>122733765

I kind of agree with this. I don't have anything against the Amira plotline, but it should have taken a back seat for the first 9 or 10 episodes. They could have easily condensed it to the end, leaving the first 3/4 of the series for adventures and favaro/kaiser/rita plot.

Hell, they all had more interesting back stories than Amira. It's a real shame, hopefully we get another season with less drawn out plotlines
>>
>>122735043
It's not really major until 8 is it, though. What should have been Amira abduction and another attempt was more important for Kaisar's meltdown in 5 and then reconciliation, the problem is that while those advanced the main as well as the Favaro and Kaisar plot it wasn't nearly as smooth afterwards.
>>
>>122730310
It's a damn shame there's only enough volumes for the main four asses. I know an ass or two which would make a better poster than Kaisar's.
>>
>>122733765
What's bigger and dumber about it from any other animu with "big bad approaching?" Even Madoka has the same plot line and I've never seen anyone bitching about it as much as I've seen bitching about Bahamut.
>>
>>122728657
Just like GARO, this show surprised me in a positive way.

Pity there will not be any 2nd season...
>>
>>122728877
>I was also kind of annoyed that very little of the original PV ended up making it int the show.
90% of the original PV was used in the show. The only scene that's missing is the scene at the beginning with dragons flying among floating islands. Everything else is there re-animated anew to match the art style.
>>
>>122735484
If I were to agree with any complaining about the second half, it'd definitely be the ep 8 where the show had it weakest moments. Actually, I don't even mind 8 since it was a much deserved breather after the almost non stop action from eps 5-7, it's episode 9 where the show started to longue too much and rely on exposition. Around 9-10 it started to feel like it just started to take over entire episodes (the Lavalley chat, forrest dragon, gods scheming). I really wished it had a few more episodes to reinvent itself into new adventure before the main plot climax arrived. I would've also liked more focus on newly reformed friendship between Kaisar and Favaro and some more focus on the side characters.
I would leave episodes 11 and 12 as they are, maybe only stretch them out some more. I don't think anything "fell apart" by then, everything actually came together very nice.

I should probably finish it.

I think 7 was really good and 11-12 were great but 8-10 dragged a bit. although if 8-9 had less exposition 10 wouldn't have felt like more of the same. 11-12 made it all up to me though.

I think if the series had been longer and there had been a section of 1-3 like adventure episodes after the castle to break up the exposition it would have helped a lot. also it would have given a chance for amira/Kaisar/Favaro to interact. Amira ended up with barely any interaction with anyone not Favaro.
>>
>>122728657

Wrong main char, ugly hair. The girl looked cute and sexy as devil but personality was like a 10 year old. The Jeanne was cool until she decided to go evil and kill Micheal her secret admirer...

Angels were stupid to not notice the change in Jeanne's life. Lucifer..was just there once smiling evilly. No, reappearance either...like at the end

Art was nice but...story and character development should have been better. Otherwise OK show.

The OP grew on me unexpectedly.

For an anime original project I thought it was excellent. I think a lot of people don't realize that they made a coherent narrative and interesting characters out of a half-completed card game.

Character development was fine. Favaro gets closer with amira and kaisar gets over his revenge plot with sprinkles of development for the minor characters. They did well without it being overbearing on other elements for a single cour show.

Because Favaro couldn't tell Kaiser about it from the start and wanted him to hunt him to keep him alive..wtf, he's an adult.

I'm sure he can handle some truth saying: "It was a plot to kill your father"
Revenge over.

They just had to keep it running. I'm sad that it had so much potential but it just became "that".
>>
>>122740598
While we never got the full story on what went down, the thing you have to remember is both Favaro and Kaisar are sort of weird mentally.

Kaisar is not a smart man and makes fast decisions he sticks to, ignoring important info that contradicts them until he gets smacked in the head. He is also very emotional and no tends to have little regard for his personal safety and is prone to despair. He is shit at looking after himself and needs other people/motivation to keep going.

Favaro on the other hand refuses to flat out say what he really means especially when he cares about something and seems to try to distance himself from responsibility/giving a shit even when he really does. He prefers people to think he is the 'bad guy' who gives no shits. He probably wants to be that but can't quite manage it.

So while he wants Kaisar to be okay he refuses to actually act like he wants Kaisar to be okay. So instead he goes with this crazy "I killed your father chase me in revenge" thing to keep Kaisar from offing himself.

Because in the end they are both sort of idiots emotionally.

Yeah this event has been absolutely insane. It's just big fish getting eaten by even bigger fish. Reminds me why shelling out dosh in these games is never a good idea.
It's fine though, I'm used to losing streaks. ;_; At least I got a decent boost from the curewater gate and the teams we've been in can hold pan-modo long enough so I won't miss them.
>>
I liked it. The plot wasn't very interesting but the likable characters made up for it. It was better than I would expect an adaption of a random card game to be anyway.
>>
>>122736184

That's because Madoka did it right. Bahamut just had a big, dumb Godzilla fight.
>>
>>122744211
>>122744465
Corporate meddling was surprisingly minuscule in this one. It's sad that Bahamut will forever carry a stigma of being an "advert" and get written off as such, when the only thing it has in common with the game are a few character designs at most and the show has been created wholly as a standalone.
>>
>>122744499
Explain yourself, what exactly did Madoka do different? For ten episodes there's essentially nothing going on, it drags on between one-note character backstories and wangst until one, big dumb witch fight.
>>
>>122744526

Yeah. And it's one of the main reasons why it sold so bad.

People are laughing at incoming shit Kancolle sales. But Bahamut did much worse and it's a game with over 2 million players in Japan just like Kancolle.
>>
>>122744526
Sadly we still have faggots with exorbitant expectations, expecting the next Samurai Champloo or Cowboy Bebop from an adaptation of a mobile card game. I don't know where these fags are coming from or if they even watch much anime.

The bold character designs should've been an indicator they don't give a fuck. MAPPA is just happy to get funded by that Cygames dosh. And I highly doubt Bahamut has 2 million active players, it's popularity has been decreasing ever since other mobage clones came out.

>The winner of the Grand Prize for a television series for the second year in a row. This year the work drew particular praise as an original work for animation, rather than being based on an existing manga or novel. The series continued to be an ambitious one, skillfully setting critical traps that shook the very foundations of the genre, leaving viewers unsure about the premises upon which this otherwise common theme of the "magical girl" is based. The seemingly adorable familiar Kyubey offers to grant a girl a wish if she will enter into a "contract" to become a magical girl and fight witches. Both the terror that lurks within "desire" and the emotional reaction to "miracles" that overcomes that fear……these are two sides of one coin, both born of the human heart. Putting the particular "media characteristics" of a television series — in which one must wait a full week to learn what happens next……to their best use, the series maximized the tension within the viewers’ minds even as they enjoyed the show’s beautiful images. The script is overflowing with the revolutionary energy that always strives to change things. With the hope that this series will become the necessary catalyst to change the world we live in, we award it the Grand Prize.

If you really think Bahamut was even close you need you head checked. Madoka kept getting better and better every week. Bahamut fell apart after snail castle thing battle. After they got to the city show completely lost direction. Fight with Azazel was pathetic. And almost everything after that was just as bad.

Look, just because these two million faggots kill some time in that mindless time sink doesn't mean any percentage of them A. watches anime at all, B. would be willing to spend 80$ on exclusive BD. Azazel should have been able to kill them easily but was defeated by his own mistakes. He's very immature and flighty and lets his supposed power go to his head.

He knew he should be able to wipe the floor with them so decided to play with his food first. However that backfired since they were then able to piss him off so much he started making dumb mistakes in his anger. This caused him to get so pissed off and wrapped up in kicking their asses that his didn't realise Jeanne was about to spear him until it was too late.

Pretty much all the major characters in the show are limited most by their own emotional defects.
>>
>>122745298

Cygames wanted a classical fantasy anime that can stand on it's own without being called a game advert. They had nothing to do with the plot or art direction. They gave Mappa full freedom.

You should stop using that phrase, it stands in opposition to what bahamut has been intended to be. You've already been informed about it, stop acting obtuse.
If they really wanted it to be an adaptation though, they could just as well add more fujoshi pandering because quite a few of Bahamut's storylines involve popular male characters and their homo love, Yurius, Albert, ect.
Bahamut is actually not exlusively cute girls, some of the most popular cards are males.

It sold like shit despite great animation. Japan don't give a fuck about it.

And I actually liked it. It started great. But the second half was so bad I couldn't even finish it.

Favaro needs to, so he can grow a full-on beard. There are also the lines he speaks to Amira in ep 12:
>Whenever you're in trouble I'll always rush to your side. Always have, always will.
Which implies his life will be pretty much dedicated to getting her back.

>The people already playing the game would rather spend their money on the game than the anime
No idea why people think game players should bear some sort of loyalty to the mobage and why should it extend to the anime by-product. The anime got little to no hype, and if recent years have taught me anything it's that first you have to hype your shit. You can't even begin to expect decent sales and interest if you don't pull out cash for advertisement first. Overhyped normalfag shows which shall not be named in here usually receive huge amount of hype months in advance of their run on TV. That's just how it goes. As for me, I only got to know about Bahamut because I follow Keiichi Satou's works, that's how under-advertised it is.
>>
>>122748318
That'd be a ballsy move and I respect that. Severing the established visual continuity of a show would be a further set back in popularity but so what. It wouldn't be very realistic to expect anything Bahamut-related to happen right after its seal, it's only to be expected years would pass before either of them got anywhere with their search.
>>
>>122744843
Madoka is flawless. Everyday when I get up I thank God for letting me live at a time where I can experience the greatest creation in human history. I am forever grateful to have witnessed the birth of something that will only truly be understood generations from now, like a modern Beethoven.

>Azazel
>villain
But he's not, his objective was actually on the protags side or at least neutral when you think about it in hindsight. Jeanne D'arc by an ironic turn of events ended up aiding the true villainous side both as knight (defended the key girl from Azazel thus giving Lavalley/Gilles free access to her) and as Dark Jeanne much more than he ever did.
Azazel ended up manipulated into the castle raid by the same individual who led to Bahamut's release and it was predetermined by the narrative that he was going to lose. It was only a matter of how. I don't appreciate how predictable it was but the insight into his character was at least enjoyable to me.
I think after the events of Genesis Azazel could be placed somewhere around a rival, not a villain.

Too bad it was so short. Like it's already been said in this thread, this was a show that could have actually been good with more episodes. There was a lot of stuff going on, and some more time would have helped even out some of the pacing I think.
>>
>>122756384
I felt it definitely deserved another cour, even some filler episodes to show more character interaction would've been good. If something from what we had needed to be fixed I'd probably pin it on their overstay at Anatae. They probably should've left at episode 7 or early 8, just to fit in more adventurous stuff before 10. Of course all this wouldn't have been a problem if it just had more episodes.

Ah, if you're hoping to read Altered Past it's still not ready yet, I'm still recording. I also apologize, I screwed up on recording some of the event and Time Chronicle. They took down the rewatch earlier than I anticipated so I missed the proper opening for TC and can't record the dialogue for killing Mirin first time around since the rewatch automatically sends you to the true path. I'm almost done though.

I know some anon said it would be good to put this on the wiki, but I'll leave it to someone else to do it. Creating pages is confusing to me, and I'm already bogged down with trying to record current events as well.

While there's still no hint of a full OP any time soon, that reminded me the orchestra concert is going to have as-yet unannounced guests.

I wouldn't mind more Cocytus scenes, that place looks badass hive of hell with intriguing inter decorations. And because it gives no sense of scale there's no telling how big that thing actually is. Survived Belzebuth fire flat to the face with no charring, got caught in Bahamut's flames which have been shown to annihilate angels without actually touching them and survived. Given all that it makes me wonder how could a piece of golden tape be any kind of threatening restraint to him, maybe he just didn't give a damn to struggle cause he was tired?

It's cool and a sexy plot device and may be dramatic if done well, but personally I hate it when it happens to characters I root for. It's largely a waste of time and set back. Usually the character resets to the exact point where they were before corruption and most often not by their own will but are jerked back with magic or 'power of friendship' so it doesnt add anything to their development, it just dehumanizes the character and serves mostly as a murphy's law-type of plot device. I just don't like when my favorite characters are so blatantly used as tools I guess.

In Bahamut world horses can survive jumps from 50ft tall bridges so I guess that's how everyone rolls. The way he slid down the rope should saw off the skin on his palm to the bone.

As an actual corruption of character without bullshit brainwashing. In case of brainwashing, it stays like that and the chara never goes back to normal.

Too bad they lost Favaro's leg, more meat on that.

The fact that he's a complete halfhead is his most endearing quality. He's like an adorable puppy you can ell at and he'll come back happily for more abuse.

No wonder even Lavalley bullied him. Who can resist.

On a different note, someone uploaded .mkv BluRay raws of the first disc on nyaa. There's also the ones someone put up with eraser subs.

He's just that guy. I wouldn't be surprised he survived so long brute forcing through his mishaps, with a little help from Favaro of course.
>>
>>122767194
To add to that, I find it hilarious how it's suggested how often Favaro needs to save his ass, yet he never takes time to consider why.
All he needed was a few punches to the head to straighten him out. He really is hamma head.

I wonder how much Favaro had to secretly baby sit him in that 2.5 year revenge quest. I mean somehow Kaisar survived wandering the world being a bounty hunter but sometimes you gotta wonder how. He can't stab all his problems and the world is full of crazy shit.

Satou knows well how to concoct a good fujo which doesn't overdose on the homolust, so I'm not worried about that. It's interesting to note that he composed Genesis in oposition to T&B but it ended up similar in many ways. I don't really give a damn about angry moefags either, the show needs a bigger audience and since it's already been written off by otakus I'll take fujos because with fujos comes merch and good art.
>>
>>122767344
It almost seems like every time he's in trouble Favaro's there the rescue him. Favaro must've really sold him on that lie.

Oh heck yeah. It'll take me a while, but expect a translation in hopefully not more than a month or so.

Here's a short little comic as a late White Day thing. By Fuji no Jukai, from here: http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=49192689

1/2:
Kaisar: Favaro...

SFX: nudge
SFX: stare
Kaisar: Err--
Kaisar: Kindly get off me.

SFX: jump
SFX: nuzzle

SFX: sniff sniff
Kaisar: S-stop this.
Kaisar: Hey... don't sniff me!

SFX: lick
Kaisar: Y-YOU---

SFX: grab
Kaisar: You mustn't do that!

SFX: CHOMP
Kaisar: O--
Kaisar: Owowowowowowowow! Ouch! Aaahhh! All right, all right!

Favaro: (...Somethin' smells really good...)
Favaro: Nnn...

Kaisar: You're awake, Favaro?
Favaro: (Ngh?)
Favaro: Ah... Kaisar?

2/2:
Kaisar: Now that you're awake, do get off, Favaro.

Favaro: Aaahh!? Maaaan, did I turn back into a demon again?
SFX: shock
Kaisar: ...Indeed. You certainly are clingy when you're like that.

Favaro: Hahahaha, well, it's not lie I remember anything. But for you, it'd be no trouble to just push me off, would it?
Kaisar: Now look here.

Kaisar: I tried exactly that several times over, but you were having none of it. I only got bitten and scratched for my trouble.
Kaisar: Not to mention you sent my hairpins flying all across the room. I lost the inclination to resist after that.

Kaisar: I'll have a bath now. You can look for my hairpins. ...Later, then.

SFX: click

Favaro: ......Yeah.
Favaro: Aaaaaaah, dammit. (I did it again.)

Favaro: (Sheesh.)
Favaro: ...Sure would've been nice if I could at least remember it...
Favaro: (What a waste.)

>The bold character designs should've been an indicator they don't give a fuck. MAPPA is just happy to get funded by that Cygames dosh.
They've already proved they don't really give a fuck by recently opening cygames anime division. So if anything Genesis made them want to do MORE not less. Even if they do kinda suck at promoting the series.

Datenshi Brothers (The Musical Group Version)

Azazel: It's almost time for the group Lucifer-sama and I formed is almost ready to release its debut CD.
SFX: smirk
Azazel: This very CD I hold in my hands.
Cerberus: (Oh really.)

Azazel: You may take this copy to call your very own. No need to thank me.
SFX: whisk
CD cover: Datenshi Brothers: Fallen Wings

Cerberus: (Visual-kei?!?)
Cerberus: D, don't want it...

By the way, the B-side is called "Scapegoat".

Datenshi Brothers (The Manzai Version)

Lucifer: Azazel,
Lucifer: I'll be the boke, so you hit me with this paper fan.

Azazel: (Eeeek!)
Azazel: Lucifer-sama, I couldn't! How could I ever bring myself to hit you?
SFX: shiver shiver
Lucifer: I see...

Lucifer: Then shall we reverse? I'll deliver the jabs to you, Azazel.

Azazel: (Lucifer-sama wants to jab it into me?!?!)
Azazel: R-right here? In public...?!
Azazel: (Does he think we need to spice things up in the bedroom?)
Lucifer: That's not the kind of jab I was talking about, Azazel.
Lucifer: (Are you really listening?)

But after this he did jab him... all night long (if you know what I mean)
