Sora is a Japanese name, but they kept it anyway. They also kept all the Japanese last names for the characters and changed Taichi's last name from Yagami to Kamiya for some reason(seriously, why change the Japanese name to literally another Japanese name).
Similar things happen in Detective Conan. They changed the name to Case Closed and made Shinichi and Ran's first names into Jimmy and Rachel, but then basically kept everything else in Japanese.
There's also the classic rice balls into donuts and all that other stuff. I seriously don't fucking understand how these people decide something is "too Japanese" and what is fine the way it is.
