Having read novels several times and watched the show in its entirety, I have come to the conclusion that Mahouka is something truly great and terrifying.
The light novel series, like its protagonist, is a veritable Mewtwo. The author sincerely set out to make the ultimate in wish fulfillment. Me succeeded, but he couldn't control what created. It was too powerful for him.
It has become increasingly apparent that, over the course of its serialization, Mahouka has become self-aware, organically, completely independently of its author. The novels are writings themselves. This is symbolized in a number of ways.
First, there is the vampire experiment, whereby the USNA military seeks to replicate Tatsuya's power and instead accidentally summons parasitic vampires from the information dimension. This is symbolic of the creation of the novel. Tsutomu set out to put his fantasies on paper, but the fantasies developed a mind of their own and are now in control. It's even hinted that Tatsuya himself has some connection to and might come from these information beings.
Next, Tatsuya is becoming increasingly more powerful and independent of the clan that created him. Unlike the author, the novel knows exactly what it is. It is patching up its weaknesses and evolving towards sheer perfection until its protagonist becomes the ultimate Gary-Stu and and the fantasies can manifest themselves in our physical realm.
Mahouka represents an unprecedented phenomenon and is a milestone in fiction.
