I recommended Kimi Ni Todoke to my friend. He watched the first couple of episodes and then stopped because it was "too gay." Now I feel kinda weird for watching all this shoujo anime. Is it too weird for a grown man to like shoujo?

In the past. These days (2000 onward, rough estimate) Japnese otaku stopped and only rarely shoujo get attention from them. /a/ is a different story, we are more 'girly' than your average otaku.

the only shoujous I watched so far are sailor moon (which was more in th background while doing other stuff) and gekkan shoujou nozaki-kun. what i enjoyed about gekkan was mostly the comedy, bit i also found the mc very cute, and the other girl characters were refreshingly different from what you see in male aimed series. but there is also a lot of pandering to girls which i can't relate to, just like there is pandering to guys in other anime. so i guess i could like a few shoujo, but i wouldn't make it my favorite genre.
