Here, we discuss things we dislike about Shirobako.
I'll start: Zuka's only purpose in the show is literally her suffering. Most likely they wanted to do something for her, ran out of time and just said "Screw it, life sucks."

You can't have everybody become a successful super-anime-girl.
Having somebody try and fail just gives the show some realism it would otherwise lack.
Now the only question is how they resolve the situation.
Will she kill herself? Marry somebody and become a housewife? Will she resign to a job that she hates? Or will she retreat into a drug-fueled dreamworld where she is successful and pretty?
One of the other seiyuu will get hit by a truck last minute and she'll be chosen to replace them.

Well, they are "Progressive Animation Works" always trying new things and concepts. Shirobako is nothing special for them in terms of success so no reason to milk it.
Even less with a much bigger project already in the works.
How Miyamori took up most of the show, The start shown them all as a group together yet we only really see the struggles and happiness of Miyamori.
I'd would have preferred a shared POV.

A person without a degree can make the claim that they would love working in the position and it's their passion, but they haven't gotten the opportunity to go to college or get a degree.

I can see how you could interpret it that way, but I consider it more of a statement that you've considered your options and that this is after all what you truly want to do.
Damn. I just had another idea.
Considering the job market, it might just be that the applicant simply failed to get a job in whatever line of work they really wanted and is only applying because they have no other choice.
I guess there is more to this than I thought.
