>Start original gundam
>It's so fucking good
Such powerful characters/conflicts. Goes to show that you don't need the latest and greatest animation/style to be a gripping and memorable Anime.
/a/ should be praising this show.Holy shit episode 13 ;_;
00 S1 is the best Gundam, I don't care what anyone says.
>watch 0079
>it's fucking awesome
>move to Zeta immediately
>it's just okay
Ho hum.

Shit taste
>>122105285
>Zetafag saying others have shit tastes
>>122102439
Yeah there's a reason it's a classic, just don't expect /a to have anything other than the worst things to say about it because that's just how /a is. All a bunch of shitposting. Somehow Gundam The Origin seems to be getting people to actually check the original series out though so who knows maybe people can see what it's actually like instead of what morons on the internet keep beating people over the head with as to how it's apparently such an unrelentingly shitty writing franchise.
>>122105471
>ZZfag calling Zetafag out
War in the Pocket was a dull piece of shit and I couldn't bring myself to care about any of the characters or what was going on.
>>122106315
Have you ever considered that you might have shit tastes?
>>122106315
Well, there's a really easy solution to your problem:Goeatadick.
>>122106525
I was expecting the last spoiler to beburger.
>>122102439
>Just post this things in /m/
>Now post this too in /a/
Why?
There is containment board called /m/.
>>122106333
I actually like the concept of 0080; the small scale story against backdrop of a much larger story. I just didn't like the people they focused on. Especially the kid. Then there are the fans that hold it up like a piece of high art, treating it like more than it is.
>>122106525
But anon, I'm not even homosexual, and contrary to what you might think, gay sex doesn't solve everything.
Never watched the original but I'm reading the origin manga.
>>122107330
Yeah, it would have been one of my fav if they focus less on the kid and more on the interactions between Burger-kun and Chris. The latter would have made the impact of the ending much stronger.
>>122107330
It seems that most of the people I've talked to who didn't like 0080 dislike the MC being a kid.
I didn't mind him and actually thought having a child's perspective of the war was a really interesting addition, but then again I don't hate kids IRL either while some people hate them. I guess it's just the different qualities people look for in shows.
Out of all the Gundam I've seen which doesn't involve things like Wing and Seed, the first two IGLOO OVAs are the only series in the franchise I've truly disliked. I felt that they romanticised war, war technology and even child soldiers in a way that's unsuitable for Gundam. It was almost insulting.
MSG was amazing. Even by today's standards (which it helped shape) it's still really good. There's a reason why it's a cultural icon in Japan.

I prefer Nekki Basara when it comes to pacifists.
"Don't fire missiles. Missiles are stupid."
>>122107408
Someone scan more of these.
>>122108409
What volume are the scans up to?
>>122108525
5 of the original 23 volume prints or 3 in Vertical's print.
>>122108409
No.
>>122107408
>those covers
>that art
>that chunky hardcover mass
Having all eight volumes lined up on my bookshelf is more satisfying than I can describe in words.
>>122108594
Damn that's a lot. I'm slowly collecting the hardbacks so there's no way I'm tearing up and scanning those
Is 08 the best gundam?
>>122102439
If you think Gundam is great, try out Ideon.
Especially the movie. It's like Evangelion, but it makes sense.
>>122108668
>>122108639
Exactly. This one's actually worth buying because this is one of those rare times where the localizing firms actually pay attention to the fans and put effort into making it good. This is how firms should be competing against scanlation, not throwing a bunch of C&Ds and then drop publications after a few volumes.
>>122102439
More people should see VOTOMS.
>>122108763
Reminder that Kiki died from biting her tongue off in the middle of Federation soldiers gang raping her in the novels.
I just want to know why a spaceship takes several episodes (days) to get from Central Asia to Ireland.
>>122109016
Novels take place in its own continuity, so fuck you.
>>122108763
No, it's one of the most overrated.
The only thing that makes it decent is its setting, almost all the characters are unlikeable, and the drama is terrible.
>>122106656
If mecha needs a containment board and /m/ is the place, then I guess that makes /a/ the containment board for all the non-offending pedophiles.
Amuro is a tiger

>>122107788
I liked the Zeon Igloo OVAs, the 3 with the fucking shinigami made me cringe. But fuck if that Guntank design in the last episode wasn't sweet. I wish it had a model kit.
Finished the original series myself a few days ago and started watching the compilation movies yesterday. Haven't watched the third one yet, but holy fuck is everyone so obsessed with Newtypes. I liked how in the TV anime it was more about Amuro having to rely on the Gundam's superior specs as he gained experience through battles and slowly developed his Newtype abilities, but then the movies go and ruin that by making him a special snowflake from the very beginning. Not to mention how they cut out Icelina's revenge, so Amuro pretty much gets "new recruit syndrome" out of nowhere in the compilation.
>>122108830
The TV series is mediocre. The movie's great.
>>122108964
This is good. I've only seen the original series and Shining Heresy so far.
>>122109187
Another Gundam OVA that saves itself from being complete trash thanks to high production value.
>>122106315
Wow.
>>122108763
Turn A = 0080 > 0079 > Zeta > 00 S1
The rest aren't good, but a handful of them are decent.
>>122109610
You liked Shining Heresy? I was too busy being mad at Takahashi and co. for ruining the TV series' ending.
>>122109883
What did you dislike about it?
I mean, I found it above average despite the story in the original being neatly wrapped up. That's the case with a lot of sequels. Kind of disappointing when watching immediately after the series.
>>122108964
People must watch Chirico casting as the bad guy in Galient.
>>122109610
>Turn A = 0080 = 0079 > G > ZZ = Zeta > Stargazer> 00 S1> X = V = 08th MS > U = W = 00 S2 > F91 > SEED > Trailblazer = EW > Destiny > Age > 0083
>>122104881
This so much, I moved on to Zeta expecting it to be incredibly good since everyone told me that the original is kinda boring but Zeta is where it gets good. Not that Zeta was bad but it was just not as good as 0079, and the last 15 or so episodes were a total trainwreck.
>>122109506
Yeah a side story or two get cut out from the movies, but you're dead wrong about him being a special snowflake from the beginning. Neverthless I'd still reccomend watching the movies over the show to a newcomer because no filler and redone animation.
>>122110090
I just hated howthe hard-earned happy ending for Chirico and Fyana gets flushed down the toilet just for the sake of having a continuation. You haven't watched it yet, but Phantom Arc goes even further in nullifying the original ending. The franchise benefits more from spin-offs like Mellowlink and Code;Irvine than from continuing (and in Pailsen Files' case, retconning) Chirico's story.
>>122110377
How the hell is 0083 worse than Destiny or Age
Friendly reminder that Kai is the best character
>Fights for his friends even if he's a coward
>Never gets the recognition for it
>Pilots a fucking mobile suit, but is ignored because it ain't the Gundam
>Doesn't care about black or white, knows everything is grey
>Knew about Miharu's true purpose from the start
>Is actually one of the bravest soldiers
>>122110377
I forgot about Stargazer. Another Gundam anime that's good.
Thread's dying, so I'll just post this:
>Turn A = 0080 > 0079 > Zeta > Stargazer > 00 S1 > V > G > ZZ > Unicorn > 00 S2 > 0083 > 8th MS Team > Wing/EW > Trailblazer > X > SEED > F91 > Age > Destiny
>>122110959
Is any other of the stuff produced after the original series on par with it?
>>122111880
I do admit I squealed like a schoolgirl when seeing him in unicorn
He had some great character development
>>122111880
>becomes a super spy and top negotiator with killer fashion sense and a badass whip he's not afraid to use
>>122111880
I've only watched MSG abridged. Is he anything like he is in that?
>>122111932
f91's way too low
>>122112328
Blame the characters and plot being bare-bones.
>>122111932
I'd say Roots of Ambition, The Last Red Shoulder, Big Battle, Armor Hunter Mellowlink and Code;Irvine are all good. Pailsen Files and Alone Again have their moments. Shining Heresy and Phantom Arc made me mad, but you might as well watch them since they're short. The latter starts out as a harmless nostalgia trip, which is okay. Votoms Finder is a weird, one-off AU OVA that's barely recognisable as Votoms. It's the only entry I'd consider skippable.
Everything should be watched in production order EXCEPT go with Alone Again before Phantom Arc. It's a more suitable place to end Chirico's animated adventures on.
