This show is ridiculously by the books. It makes you drop any sort of logical reasoning and thinks about how an outdated writer would make his story development "interesting". When it was 3v1, you would still think Lucas can stand a chance, but when they decided to 1v1, you know for sure Lucas would lose from a power collide.

You pretty much underlined the biggest failing of Try Fighters. None of the opponents have any real payoff. They all are throwaway characters that get their episode or two and get wrecked. The show only is building up Gunpla Academy and Try Fighters as the real threats.
