There also seemed to be a lot more thought-provoking(?) moments, like the speech post-wipe, sudoku knights, 42, the kid's backstories. Rundel Haus as a whole just seemed a lot more interesting than in s1.

Didn't they just pan back and forth between the dungeon and Akihabara during that arc? I guess that one part might have been a bit lengthy, but anytime LH is mentioned people immediately go bashing the entire second season. Hell the first one doesn't even really end on any meaningful conclusion, so without S2 it would be pointless. Also S2 only goes up to episode 21 at the moment, but the past few have been pretty damn good.
