So I was watching Who Framed Roger Rabbit recently and the thought occurred to me:
Why hasn't anyone in the Japanese film industry tried to make a Roger Rabbit inspired movie/TV series with anime characters?
What would the plot be then? The cartoons in Roger Rabbit all come from an era where comedy shorts were big. None of them actually had back stories or a developed world they came from. Their whole point is to participate in a short show about 3-7 minutes long.
How would anime actually fit in a setting like that? Most anime have developed characters and worlds. It would be weird to have them through that away and have them know they are anime characters.

WFRR was about a detective investigating the murder of the owner of town populated by cartoons, which leads him to an insidious plot to destroy the town completely. Maybe the antagonist in this movie can be an otaku distraught over his waifu being impure or something.

If you want it to be like Roger Rabbit in terms of blending live action and animation, you have to do it the same way they did it on that film, which means animating on 1s at 24 fps to match the live action characters.
And, if you haven't noticed yet, there haven't been very many anime made entirely on 1s. I actually doubt there are any at all that aren't independent short films.
Reason being, that shit is INCREDIBLY FUCKING DIFFICULT.
There are hours upon hours and pages upon pages of interviews detailing the tortuous process that was the Roger Rabbit animation production.
I guess Space Jam had enough financial backing that they could hire a bajillion animators to make the process easier. It was probably hellish anyway.
This was a great movie and jessica rabbit was my first cartoon fap when I turned 12.

To add to that, usually the reason American animated movie have such fluid animation so many times compare to Japanese is because many of the characters and such in disney etc are cartoonish character that are made up of basic shapes which allows the Animators to animate the character easier. In most anime, the characters usually add details on to the character that animating them 24ps would be fucking hell.
