Just imagine the trailer starting all movie quality, everything is dark as it pans over something apparently in space. Throughout the first half of the trailer it's just different people saying one like each, Rin says "It's watched us since the dawn of humanity" Kotomine says "It has observed all things in creation, ideals, souls, thoughts, all things have been recorded". All the while its just skimming the outside of what appears to be this giant object all in black, pan out and you see an eye of some kind almost. Then the title "Fate/Extra" just appears as Kotomine says it at the same time.
Feels like they could really make that setting into something incredible depending on how they portray it.

I don't see that being much of an issue here; personality of protagonist an weekly interactions can be done up by the writers well enough as long as they know what they're doing, but most of what they have to prioritize here are just the servant fights which show the heart of the competitors while at the same time the growing development and anguish of the MC as he slowly becomes human, while taking this all on in order to move forward.
Show some running around the arenas and development between servants and masters in between that, and you have a simple enough plot that can translate very easily honestly. It's not like you even have to change much. It's not like they need to show him grinding or anything.
Honestly with the same logic you'd probably say that Extra could never be translated into a manga, yet there's at least three or four different Extra manga at this point. It's not hard to adapt a story out of the basis its been given there. All you have to do is apply it.

Racing the opponent in the arena because Kotomine came up with a new challenge, battling them once, overhearing the right thing, looking up info at the library, every time you get matrix info it's presented differently. Rather than something to avoid, that is the story in a way. That's MC applying himself to find out as much on the opponent as he can. That's half of how we see their interactions as well.

When Seigfried and Karna fought it out the first time they were about equal, Karna always wanted to have out their fight fully, and the conditions were strange since one of them was dead but he was happy.
Karna was one of the guys that won in that sense, he got what he wanted.

He's still nowhere near the level of Karna or Enkidu in terms of Non-bitching, as they actively say how great their lives were to even get that far in a sense, and it couldn't be helped. They were unworthy of even that much according to them. Vlad as well was fucked around just as much as Vlad, but due to being warped by perceptions of him "During life" as his opponents saw him as a tyrant or monster, his personality has become more inclined towards a certain madness where he's okay with being a monster, unlike Vlad.
