What are cliches/tropes that you absolutely love?

To this day I STILL love "normal guy gets stuck in a fantasy world" stories.

There's this one series called Ore ga Heroine o Tasukesugite Sekai ga Little Mokushiroku!? where the MC hops through worlds and uses the items of one world to solve the problems of another.

Just wish it had more chapters translated

There's just too much of this tropes nowaday.
By the way, is this cliches started by Mushoku Tensei?

Mushoku Tensei is recent you dolt

A recent series can't START a cliche if its been around for ages.

Don't know if this counts as a "trope" or cliche but I love it when an anime makes fun of its own/other series' cliches, even when it's done in the most obvious way.

I dunno that premise was pretty recent

I mean reincarnation as a whole has been around since Tezuka, but one where their memories intact I've never seen any save for the LNs that seem to be stepping the same ground as MT.
>>
>>121676452
I love that since Zero no tsukaima.

Well, we are talking about "absolutely loved" cliche here.
So there's no way people can absolutely love all of them.
>>
>>121678429
Battle Shounen cliches tend to have some narrative and entertainment sense to them so I can appreciate them despite them being overused.

Shoujo cliches I never understand but I'm not the demographic so I can't really knock them

Harem cliches are stupid, and most of them goes against the whole point of the fantasy.

SoLs don't have cliches because they don't do anything. SoLs are as much of a cliche as zero is a quantity.

Missing out the greatest series. You will never know the glory of mushoku tensei, skeleton overlords, a rabbit MC who is so pure that you heart is cleansed, BWAKA girls, the social GAMMA still in pursuit for 'something real', the antics of the pioneers of Elder tale, and many more.

I feel for you, man, even if you brought that upon yourself.
>>
>>121679813
Can't quite say I care. You could say that about normal books too. Taking away the comic aspect away from it defeats the purpose of why I like manga in the first place. I prefer to see the events going on, not read about them.

>>121679946
I get what you mean, but that also means you're not visualizing.
When you read shit, the scenes flows into your head, at that point it's like animation constantly produced by you, directed by you.

For example, when some one say "Rudy stabbed the knight with the sword", the manga will, well, just stabbed with the sword.
If you visualize however, you can see Rudy dodging the blade with paper thin accuracy, using his blade to push the armored knight back and jamming the blade into a gap, slicing the knight from inside out.

I find that it's not even reading anymore, and it's easy to visualize 2D character instead of complicated 3Ds.

If you can't do it, tough luck, buddy. hope you enjoy your manga.

Harem cliches are kind of strange because harems have to kind of blue ball the protagonist a bit in order for it to work for their audience. If the main character sleeps around it comes across as unfaithful to each girl and he becomes more of a playboy stereotype. If you're not careful you end up coming across as School Days protagonist, perhaps with the same result.

Harem lives and dies off it's blue balls and how it explains why the male lead can't get his dick wet is down to the gimmick of each show. It can be disinterest, stupidity, indecisiveness, gynophobia or even age of consent.

Simply put, in a harem show the protagonist can't win until the end (or even at all), they live off the feeling of being the center of attention for all those girls. It sort of falls apart for the audience when the protagonist fucks around.

Which isn't to say I'm defending harem; it's a very silly genre, but it's sort of refined itself on it's audience I suppose.
>>
>>121680260
For me if I'm gonna read a LN I'd rather just read an actual novel.
>>
>>121680260
>but that also means you're not visualizing.
>When you read shit, the scenes flows into your head, at that point it's like animation constantly produced by you, directed by you.
But I don't CARE about stuff like that. I'd rather watch someone else's rendition of it.

Its the same thing as why I don't like most WRPGs. I don't want to make up my own story. I want to see an actual story with my own eyes.

Magical girls being gay for each other.
>>
>>121680272
And thats why I prefer it when the story has its own routes for each girl so everyone is satisfied. Either that or they stop blueballing the protag/reader and make it an ACTUAL harem where the MC is going out with everyone and the girls are ok with it.
>>
>>121680272
Well, not defending harem myself, but it should theoretically work as a subplot.

You see, what you all said, which is quite true, usually occurs when the plot is only about RomCom.
If the plot does not involve Harem as a main point of the story, it will allow the writer to slow the pace of harem, so that it will not come out as blatant blueballing.

For example, Jitsu Wa is a romcom harem (3 girls as of now) but then again, it is not even about the romance, but girls being BWAKAs.
It is the comedic aspect that pulls in the audience, not the romance.

Another example would be Yahari. (2 girls, and 1 potential love interest). What makes Yahari SO good is the extensive character development of our very own batman, 8man.
The plot involves 8man dealing with bitches and stupid ikemens and his sufferings because of his way of doing things.

Therefore, Harem is not a bad thing; just trying to milk out harem as a genre is a very bad move, writing wise.

I-I just wanted people to like the media that deserves more love...
>>
>>121680260

To be honest, the only reason I read LNs is to get ahead of where other media might have stopped. Using Log Horizon as a example, I watched the first series then started to read ahead into the LNs.

Light Novels either don't translate too well, or just aren't well written. I don't mind it because the main reason I might read a LN is to enjoy the idea they present. With Tate No Yuusha I oddly like it best when the main character is building his own forces and managing land while abusing some of his mechanics to get ahead. There are some pretty fun interactions going around and it's kind of neat in that way, but holy shit the revenge porn the author occasionally throws in is sort of jarring at times.

So I don't know, I think it's important when reading LNs to not have high expectations and understand what you are letting yourself in for. Most are unapologetic power fantasies, but some of them have pretty fun ideas despite of it.
>>
>>121680790
You're essentially just going on the anime and manga board saying "READ A BOOK NIGGA!"

What did you think would happen.
>>
>>121680881
no he didn't he just said "source material is better"
which is usually what mangafags (like me) say

>>121680272
But the MC is going to look bad regardless. Even though they won't think he used trickery now he looks like he got several women that he really made no effort to have. He'll still look like a douche either way but they can at least make him so his obtainment of harem wouldn't be put into question.

Doesn't even have to be a Casanova, simply being a skilled and likable person like Hayate or Negi will usually do.
>>
>>121681162
>no he didn't he just said "source material is better"
In the end he is still tell people to just read a book.
>>
>>121680792
Well, yes. It's obvious some are good and some are bad.
It is also quite hard to find TLs since they too don't want to read a wall of text.

However, in the end of the day, I think that LN is a gold mine that people should be more aware about, instead of stubbornly sticking to a single medium.

It's about being the more, the merrier.
>>
Happy endings. I don't watch this shit to get horribly depressed. I'm okay with bad or even terrible things happening through the events, but I enjoy the ending to have things working out.
>>
>>121681236
How about bittersweet?
>>
>>121681325
That's fine too. Just as long as some reconciliation or awakening or final progress is made to achieve the bittersweet. If they just fucking die an inch from their goal or they lose their self at the end or some other complete self destruction occurs, I just feel like ass.
