Why is there such lack of Cyberpunk or Steampunk nowadays? Why did such a great genre die out of nowhere? I seroulsy wish there were more anime focused on these two genres.

Steampunk is style over substance so it never had a chance to take off, cyberpunk is alive but a lot of the shit it predicted is already here, just not as "awesome" as people expected.

idk man, Sidonia turned out pretty fantastic. Not to mention Blame!'s already been animated with CG in the form of Blame! Prologue which was a pretty short OVA made up of two 4-minute episodes. It's pretty meh overall but there's a scene in the second episode that's just Killy walking around and it's actually really nice.
