Uzumaki is great! One of the best, but I thought "Gyo" may have been better.
I enjoyed them on the same level, but (without spoiling anything for anyone) I thought the way Gyo began by exploring the concept of fear through the sense of smell and progressed into such dark transhumanist existentialism was epic. Also, the short at the end, exploring claustrophobia, and his trademark compulsion-based-insanity...mmmmmmm, so good.

Maybe you should read the novel first. "Musashi," by Eiji Yoshikawa. The novel is one of the best books I've ever read, but even for a die hard fan like me there are times when the manga has moved a little slow. Still, one of my favorite manga, and DEFINITELY one of my favorite artists.
Also, thanks for the recommendation. Kago's work looks really interesting. I will definitely check him out. I've heard that I should read Hyoryu Kyoshitsu, or Drifting Classroom too, but I can't seem to find it anywhere...

There are many. Uzumaki was good but it got dull and weird (in a bad way). The dead guy with a spine as a spring and the gang who rode whirlwinds were just flat out dumb.
Ito is great at horror, but he has a bad habit of making stuff way too absurd. I understand that that is what he does, but for me it always ruins the atmosphere that he's so good at setting up. It's like sabotages his own work.
