Name a better manga than this.
>Protip: you can't.
Itou Junji is like the shittest writer ever.
If you want an example of high quality writing with jaw-droppingly amazing & well-realized characters, put your shoujo agendas aside and read 7 Seeds.
Am I the only person that didn't like Vagabond? 4 volumes of dullness before I shelved it, then everyone I've ever spoken to can't pull their tongues out of its arse.
Uzumaki is great! One of the best, but I thought "Gyo" may have been better.
I enjoyed them on the same level, but (without spoiling anything for anyone) I thought the way Gyo began by exploring the concept of fear through the sense of smell and progressed into such dark transhumanist existentialism was epic. Also, the short at the end, exploring claustrophobia, and his trademark compulsion-based-insanity...mmmmmmm, so good.
Maybe you should read the novel first. "Musashi," by Eiji Yoshikawa. The novel is one of the best books I've ever read, but even for a die hard fan like me there are times when the manga has moved a little slow. Still, one of my favorite manga, and DEFINITELY one of my favorite artists.
Also, thanks for the recommendation. Kago's work looks really interesting. I will definitely check him out. I've heard that I should read Hyoryu Kyoshitsu, or Drifting Classroom too, but I can't seem to find it anywhere...
>implying anything is better than YKK
There are many. Uzumaki was good but it got dull and weird (in a bad way). The dead guy with a spine as a spring and the gang who rode whirlwinds were just flat out dumb.
Ito is great at horror, but he has a bad habit of making stuff way too absurd. I understand that that is what he does, but for me it always ruins the atmosphere that he's so good at setting up. It's like sabotages his own work.
There sure is alot of shit taste on this board right now.
YKK is a masterpiece in terms of manga.
Go read it if you haven't.
Uzumaki really is a great manga despite the lackluster ending. Funnily enough it was my first manga, I had read the entire thing in one go, long before I developed an interest in anything anime related.
Do you mean manga or just horror in general? Horror manga I've read are...
That vampire one in the country
I'd argue Berserk and Monster can be horror.
And a couple of compilations of shitty wapanese 2spooky ghost stories with dumb faces.
let's not talk about part three though
