What little we do know, though, implies at some degree of OP-ness, what with being a newbie with newbie friends and who absolutely refuses to leave his buddies behind and so became a (small) effective end-game raiding guild who suffered zero casualties through the end of the game, unlike the bigger and more renowned end-game guilds. What else can you say about him? He's a salaryman who ordered a pizza and likes Kirito and ends up hanging around his harem of teenage girls.
You may dislike Kirito, but there is absolutely no basis for Klein being a "good character" who would have improved the show, had he been given more screentime or had he been the MC.
