Daily lives with monster girls. Miia center, Centora, left, Papi, right. Come at me, anons. You know this is how it is.
>>121242334 Who cares? It's not like the spinoffs detract from the quality of SN or Zero. It's just fanservice. >>121242383 Extra is actually good... it's not blatant milking like Prism Illya or Carnival Phantasm.
>>121242491 I have the exact opposite sentiment. Prisma Ilya is a glorified fanfic, yes, but I think the author legitimately wanted to build off of Fate, so not mainly for milking. Carnival Phantasm is just fantastic, probably one of the best and most hilarious things that TM has put out.
Extra is okay, but the TM actually admitted that Nero was a Saber-clone to attract Saberfags and it just came at a rather late date as well. Almost 6 years after F/SN, while Prisma was about 3 years. Therefore, this suggests that F/E had a much larger incentive to make money off of Fate than the other franchises that you said.
>>121243293 It looks okay to me, I suppose. Although I realized a while ago that I wasn't really mad when someone didn't read the VN, I just didn't want more people in the fandom to ruin the threads. Also, obligatory >reddit
<Plot Summary for Fate/stay night> <It's almost best to read the visual novel's for Type Moon stories> <Check out Fate/Zero and Fate/hollow ataraxia if you want more> <Thanks Mirror Moon, Beast's Lair, UTW, Eclipse and whoever the fuck else>
>>121244087 >Start with the first ep of Fate/Zero. Stop at the last ep of Fate/Zero.
>F/SN UBW problems are not just the quality of the source material. The show is hardly watchable as seemingly the director didn't have the courage or maybe talent to do anything creative with it in the adaptation process instead we're getting an almost frame by frame "faithful" adaptation with no concern for episodic TV format, pacing and audiences' patience. In the end I don't think many would find this enjoyable other than the most hardcore VN fans. It's for them. UBW could have a decent adaptation showing everything worth showing and telling in 4-5 hours instead it's like they're adapting The Hobbit to a 6 movie "saga" with extended cut to be released later on top of that. Just being pretty isn't going to cut it.
>Fate/Zero spoils one or two details of F/SN, that isn't even a major focus point on the overall story. Fate/Stay Night spoils the entire ending of Fate/Zero. You can make the choice.
>I don't care. Fate/zero is too good to be grouped in with trash like fate/stay night and fucking tsukihime.
"Those readers who thought Fate/stay night “should have more than blood, tears and tragic endings”, this is for you! This is the true ‘Heaven’s Feel’, with the battle for survival as its essence! This is Emiya Kiritsugu’s other side that was never mentioned until now and unknown by others. This is the fourth Heaven’s Feel that’s never been completely described until now. If we have to define it, it’s an extra part spin out of canon story. It's a unique leaf of a melody that Urobuchi Gen conducted from a completely Fate-ish trunk. Here, you don’t have to consider the content of the ‘Fate/stay night’ game. Only move the story according to your wishes, let the characters shown portray themselves to the fullest and rush towards the ending without regret.
I've been going through Zero and UBW episode by episode, and people I think really have some rose tinted glasses for Zero.
The first three episodes of Zero are almost pure build up and exposition. There isn't any real action at all, and if you knew about the basic stuff regarding the grail war, as you probably should since this is a prequel, lots of the content in these parts is basically just retreading of info from the Fate route.
Looking at UBW as well, I'm not really understanding some of the complaints. People say it's slow, but it gets to the action straight up at episode 0, and in terms of music and sound, another complaint I'm hearing, it's roughly on the same level as Zero. I think people who complain about the soundtrack aren't looking at the way the two shows used it in context, plus Zero has the benefit of actually already having its CDs as reference points.
>>121245081 Dude, the first cour was one of the most talked about anime of the Fall.
If you're just hearing about it now though, I'd wait a month for the BDs. They're supposed to have over an hour and a half of content Ufotable couldn't add to the broadcast version, plus it comes out 10 days before the second set of episodes.
>>121245060 >plus Zero has the benefit of actually already having its CDs as reference points. What about UBW having like the actual VN
>it's roughly on the same level as Zero I think the problem, or difference rather, with UBW's OST is that it's just not as thematic as Zero's. Call Kajiura a one-trick-pony all you wish, but her compositions were at least very melodic and memorable, regardless of quality. Besides, her orchestral latin chants were really fitting to the atmosphere. UBW just doesn't seem to make much of an impact, therefore the complaints.
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVYCU2dhwIY Every F/Z song, for example, but it at least sounded cool
>>121245218 >I think the problem, or difference rather, with UBW's OST is that it's just not as thematic as Zero's
I don'tthink this is true at all. Kajiura's score was centered around mostly a single motif, but if you actually listen to UBW's soundtrack, it's extremely thematic. Every character has a theme and motif, and it's not just the same exact song playing either. There's a new version every time.
That's another thing about Zero compared to UBW. Zero reused music constantly, with the exception of Kajiura's tracks, Fukasawa's music seems to be entirely original for each episode.
>>121245338 Sorry, I meant thematic in using the same sort of line or "theme" throughout, like what you said about Kajiura. It's just that that line happened to be the sort of "catchy, yet tragically sad" piece that gets everyone's attention.
I do wish UBW remixed more songs from the VN however.
>>121245469 UBW does have a main theme, it plays a lot during Shirou's scenes, but also when general heroic stuff happens. There's also an ominous more ambient version that plays during creepier or darker scenes. I don't think it's as good as the one Kajiura wrote for Zero, but I don't really think it has to, since the entire soundtrack isn't centered around it.
Like, if you listen to Zero's music, Kajiura slips in that theme in most of the tracks, while Fukasawa tends to write a theme for character x, and then whenever a scene happens with that character happens, a version of that melody plays.
With the VN music, I don't know it's a toss up. I get that people want to hear it, but you'd also have the people who'd say it's not as good as the original, so you can't really please everyone. Fukasawa just decided to try and strike out with his own original stuff. I mean I think he was the one who remastered the 2012 soundtrack for the Vita version, so I could understand him being tired of working with those tracks.
>>121245853 For the most part, the anime does stay very close to the essence of the novels. A large majority of the differences come from how the anime portrays the characterization; the novels uses the third-person narration heavily to describe the thought processes of each character. The anime does not take this route. Case in point, episode 17 "The Eighth Contract":
The entire meeting between Kirei and Tokiomi to inform of Risei's death is completely anime-original. In the novels, the narrator goes to great lengths to describe just how much of an impact this death on Tokiomi's confidence. Tokiomi is actually an average magus given prominence not due to his talent but for his hard work and effort (a detail omitted from this episode). He has become who he is due to how he planned out his life to become the ideal magus, so naturally his plan coming apart bit by bit would shake him quite a bit. The anime depicts all of this simply by having him respond to Risei's death in a very shaken, angry manner, an action that would normally be completely out of character for him.
Afterwards, Gilgamesh probing into Kirei's thoughts about the matter condenses a relatively long narrative about Kirei's personal feelings about how his life has turned out thus far (which includes a flashback to his recently deceased wife that was mentioned in the very beginning of the story) into approximately 30 seconds of dialogue. The scene that this narrative takes place, when Kirei first discovers Risei's body, is not even alluded to in the anime. This is probably because Kirei actually sheds tears for his father, not out of sadness, but due to how he wasn't the one to actually kill him. Naturally, this is cut out of the anime since the visual direction has Kirei strictly being completely emotionless until those last moments. Instead, the anime has Gilgamesh cut right into the heart of the matter.
>>121244256 But UBW is much better adaptation than Zero with superior directing and pacing(considering not linear source material). Person who wrote this seems like "adult anime for adult person like me" baka.
>>121242383 Extra's alright because it at least explores and alternate universe and allows Fate to play out as an RPG, which is clearly what Nasu intended to do with the original idea. Zero's alright as a prequel showcasing a grail war where shit actually fucking happens.
Apocrypha is taking it too far. 14 servants is nonsense and some of them are just plain stupid, and then there's the "Kotomine Shirou" crap that's a load of nonsense in and of itself.
>>121246499 >If we could stop playing the joke that it doesn't exist that'd be awesome. Seriously. This joke is too old, it's like people who are still using it are trying to fit in >herp derp isn't sad Sacchin >look at me I know that Tsukihime anime is shit and DOESN'T EXIST top kek, am I primary yet
>>121245621 Because he created them and they weren't super idealistic to a self destructive degree. Iskander killed his best friend in a drunken rage just because said friend said he was drinking to much and doesn't regret it in fact he's extremely fine with his life. Urobutcher hates people who can't accept life for what it is and makes them pay dearly for that in the most messed up way possible. That's why the people who do accept it be they good or bad get off fine when the dust settles.
>01 Unlimited Blade Works 5:30 Overture. >02 Rin:Remembrance ~ Shoukan 2:35 Rin's theme, probably from the prologue. >03 Archer 3:10 Archer's theme. Maybe the music that played when Lancer killed Shirou? >06 Souls to Fight 3:39 Action music. Given it's only track six, maybe from episodes 0-1? >07 Storm 1:18 >08 Vortex of Fate 4:28 I have no clue about track seven. Eight is long though and has "Fate" in it. I don't know, I'm just having fun trying to guess this stuff. Just a month away to see how wrong I am.
>>121249353 The first one is taken out of context by the anime. It's meaning is that Shirou relied too much on Avalon and he won't do it anymore. the second one is Rin being stupid and/or captain obvious. the third one is that Lancer's Gae Bolg swaps the cause and effect of things, so his NP never misses. Only a high enough Luck stat can make the attack less lethal, which Saber has.
