Part of the hype was Kyoani doing a proper action show again after so long and bringing their above average for TV anime budget along with them.
Unfortunately it turned out that despite keeping their usual quality of animation they kind of sucked at directing action scenes for the most part.

I blame the awful director for being shit. Nothing was very well directed save for some emotional scenes and that idol episode. One of the most unenjoyable parts of the show was the poorly integrated "comedy" by Akky and Hiroomi. It always came off a skeevy and never funny like obviously intended. It was also almost always jarring with the rest of the scene/s.

The action scenes were more well done than any other studio could do. They maintained a high level of quality and detail with fast paced animation. If you are going to shit on something from this anime it can not be the AD or animation. The artwork and sound was solid. The story really wasn't bad either. So many people want to shit on the ending too, but I don't see people bitching about KLK's ending. A lot of anime have open endings and it looks they were planning a movie to tie it all up anyways. If you hate KnK it's just a matter of your awful taste and opinion because it was objectively better than most other studios movies.
