It's not about wondering if these characters are going to make it out alive. It's about overpowered characters clobbering the shit out of eachother. That's why it's fun. If you can't appreciate that, then this show is obviously not for you and there's no point in trying to explain or convince you otherwise.

I really dislike how inappropriately people through the term "Mary/Gary sue/stew" around. Having characters that are incredibly physically powerful, or characters that seem unbeatable in a fight, is not tantamount to having characters who are Mary Sues.
Mary Sues are characters with now personal flaws, or, who negate conflict through their infallible purity or unshakable moral compass (now this is not all encompassing, because characters with infallible morals often end up as tragic characters, and as such, their morals are a vice, making them ineligible for the title of Mary Sue).
These characters are NOT mary Sues because:
Ban is a an apathetic, depressed alcoholic.
Meliodas is a sexual deviant who allows his past troubles to overcome his thoughts.
King is being NTR'd and is too beta to do anything about it.
Gowther cannot understand emotion; he cannot empathize.
Diana has a complex about her height and feels inadequate as a result.
Hawk is a faggot in every way.
Elizabeth, now Elizabeth is arguable, but she is not viewed as perfect. Her naivety and idealism causes problems for her and others around her.
Characters like the girl from Twilight, who are obsessed over by everyone, who are treated as "special" for no justifiable reason, and who are perpetually without fault are the characters referred to by those terms, not characters that punch really hard and tank shots.
