Honestly, I would tolerate it if they did what they do in Melty Blood and just revived the dead characters as clones, just like how Melty has the Tatari as an excuse to reuse the dead characters from Tsukihime.
Just say that Door-kun and friends are just shadows or something, and bam, you have your plot for the next Arena.
