There are no comfy threads this season that move at a good pace. Yuri Kuma maybe if there weren't so many /u/ anons.
I'm kind of mixed about this series - on the one hand, I understand the need for closure with each story arc, and a way to have continuing characters the viewer will care about. On the other hand though, part of what made the original short interesting was the ambiguity of everything, including where the elevators actually lead.
I feel things were spelled out a little too neatly in the first couple of episodes.

Words 02 - Reincarnation and the Void
These are where souls that have been judged go.
Once the deceased have been judged after playing one of many games, they are escorted to two side-by-side doors, each containing a customers-only elevator leading to reincarnation or the void.
The "White Noh Mask" and the "Hannya Mask" are displayed above the elevator doors, and reveal where the souls are headed. Once the souls of the deceased have made their journey, their bodies take the form of dolls.
Those who are reincarnated may live anew in the present day, but those sent to the void are cast into the graveyard of souls.
Souls cast into the Void are left with their negative emotions and consciousness intact, and remain in nothingness for all eternity.

What they're getting at is the theological history of the concept. Death Parade takes Buddhism's desirable end-goal and conflates it with Christianity's undesirable one. Buddhism is, after all, a religion that features reincarnation as well as ideas of heaven & hell, but none of those are the ultimate goal of the practice, the punishment of hell and the pleasures of heaven were just as fleeting as the vagaries of mortal life. The ultimate goal of a Buddhist is to end the cycle of reincarnation by achieving nirvana, the obliteration of self. The Void.
If it sounds kind of grim, you've got to remember it was a reaction to the beliefs of Hinduism, which offered *no* escape from the cycle and the promise that whatever you were in this lifetime was the highest you would ever be in any lifetime.
