So I might be attending a screening of this with a Q&A with Isao Takahata afterwards. Is there anything of interest I should ask him if I have a chance?

/a/ still likes Ghibli right?
>>
>>120755282
Does he consider it to be his magnum opus?
Does he regret nearly sending Ghibli into bankruptcy by producing it?
>>
ask Isao why did he overbudget this movie? I honestly cannot see a reason why this movie cost like 5billion yen to make.
>>
>>120756133
Did you see the film? It was almost obscenely detailed, it's pretty obvious that the movie costed a lot to produce. It would be interesting to hear about why the production lasted so long, though.
>>
>>120756133
Maybe he wanted to pay is animators a living wage.

good one anon

What's his opinion on the industry right now.
What he thought of The Wind Rises
If he has any regrets

Ask why some scenes reek of AE.

Ask for porn.

Ask him why he considers rich people to be inherently bad persons

Urobuchi doing JAVs is more than enough people from the animation industry.
>>
>>120758392
Urobuchi is doing JAV? Is he working with Goro?
>>

Ask him if there's anything else in this (Princess Kaguys's) style on the horizon. Maybe a series?

I'm dying to know.
>>
>>120758607
>dying

Pun not intended right. The guy is 80 years old.

This was actually kinda the question I was thinking of asking. If he had plans to ever go back to cels if he has any future works but I guess he could pass along the same stylization to an apprentice.
>>
>>120758917
Or at least get the scoop on what's next for the guy, though I doubt he'd actually tell you that one, which is why I didn't ask initially.
>>
>>120756284
Have you seen any anime films? The only thing notable about Kaguya is its art style.

Ask him what the two or three most recent anime he watched and approved of were. Alternatively, ask who or what studio in the industry right now has the most (positive) potential.
>>

>I guess he could pass along the same stylization to an apprentice.

It's not his stylization. The art of both My Neighbors the Yamadas and Kaguya-hime was developed by Osamu Tanabe.

Why do people always contribute everything they like about an anime solely to the director? Animation is a collaborative craft.
>>
Ask him about what he thinks about the state of animation today and what can be done to fix it.

Ask if he's trying to convince Miazaki to go back to filming.

Ask how much he pays his animators.

>>120759683
>he didn't watched Kaguya already.

>Ask him about what he thinks about the state of animation today and what can be done to fix it.
It's not broken. A better question would be to ask what his opinion is on modern anime, both TV and feature film.

>Ask if he's trying to convince Miazaki to go back to filming.
Those two hardly even talk to each other. Watch The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness documentary.

>Ask how much he pays his animators.
That's a question for Toshio Suzuki, and he's retired now, so you'll never get to ask him.
>>

I have, it's shit. Way too much artistic license completely destroyed the original story, just like Disney does with its films.

Ghibli is overrated. It's a way for people who still get excited over Disney cartoons, Animal Crossing, and Pokemon a way to be autistic while still being somewhat acceptable in normal society.
>>
>>120760061
>Disney, AC, Pokeymans
Sounds great to me
>>
Try to get an "anime is dead" quote from him so we can fight about it on /a/.
>>
>>120760061
It's an adaptation of a classical old tale. This art style is justified or at least understadable.

I'm not particularly fan of Ghibli but you have to say their films are one of the best things that came from animation, AND they are the only ones at least Miyazaki to make those kind of films.
