In retrospect, I personally like AW more but found that it got progressively shitter while I continued to read the light novels. The plot slows down ten fold and as much as 30 seconds worth of real time in AW took place in a WHOLE novel.

It was watchable but the characters were one dimensional and they didn't explore the whole thousands of years old in a few months real time concept which was a serious letdown. For once, it wasn't vampire lolis or some other generic shit but it just went nowhere. I didn't even mind cartman but if the most interesting concept isn't even going to be explored, I'll assume the LNs are just as shitty. With the generic high school setting typical of LNs, I have no reason to expect otherwise.
