Lupin canonically is in the late 60s/early 70s since that's when the manga ran.
Especially apropos since he is the third Arsene Lupin. His grandfather lived and was active at the turn of the century. I remember the story went that Arsene Lupin Jr. was in Japan during WWII stealing something when he met a nice Japanese girl and nine months later, there was a third Lupin bouncing around.

They are two different things: Daisuke's Gravestone was a dark story, probably a prequel. The new series is a sequel of the Green/Red/Pink ones, so probably is gonna be a bit goofy.

No but i want to see. Also my favorite is Pink Jacket but just because that was (probably) the first series i watched.
I hope to see a Cagliostro-like Lupin, and this is possible, since some of the guys who worked on Caste of Cagliostro are also working on the new series.
