The problem is that there's no suspense or urgency ever. The mecha battles are exactly as involving as the stiff, unnatural dialogue that goes on in between. It also seems to go out of its way not to tell the story that it set out to tell or even much of a story at all. There are barely any scenes with lasting impact on the characters or the viewer.
It's very much like staying at an old folks home.
The sad thing is that it had potential coming out of its ass.

G Self 'may' have a nuke built in it because it was made with Rose of Hermes which according to some Twitter of someone working on the show works something like the EXADB as in it's not literal blueprints on building mobilesuits.

That is all there is.
Almost every single episode has some form of mecha battle scene and almost all of them look like ass. Show me scenes from episodes 3,4,5,7,8,9,10,11,13,14,15,16,17 and so on that look as good as Takaya's or Terada's work. There is absolutely nothing worthy of saying "this is well animated".
God I wish the people who harp on how WELL ANIMATED G-Reco looks actually knew shit about animation.
