Due to a few of the Abyss bosses being based on installations owned by America in WW2 such as:
Airfield Hime: What we now know today as Henderson Airfield
Midway Hime: Midway base. In fact, those three bars around her resemble the run ways of one island in the Midway Atoll.
The Abyss is also based on the allies as a whole. Not just America. Like:
Seaport Hime: Reference to Port Darwin.
Nothern Ocean Hime: Said to be based on a Dutch Installation attacked as part of a Japanese feint.
The abyss fleet also use the same measurement system for naval that America would have used in WW2.
The same is true for one of the recent Abyssal fighters which is called a "Hel-Diver", the same name used for an American aircraft at the time of World War 2.
Also its mentioned one of the Abyss's attacks has a code-name that is based off of either Task Force Z or some other naval response force to Japanese aggression at the time.

The "Dutch installation" you're thinking of is actually Dutch Harbor, an American naval base in the North Pacific near Alaska; I'd name the islands, but I can't spell them.
"Helldiver" I read somewhere before was a name used for themselves by both Japanese and American dive bomber pilots. Its based on a pre-war movie title, I think.
