The anime sucks at exposing her spurt of emotions. She is not exactly deadpan. She has emotion and personality. It just doesn't stand out. And thats the main reason why Tomoya was so obsessed over her. Its her indifferent attitude and ambiguous personality. Which again, sucks balls when being depicted in this anime.
