Are women generally better writers than men when it comes to shonen manga? Just finished pic related and is up to date with Magi and noticed that both of these series are written by women.
>>
>>119918217
Magi is shit.
>>
>>119918217
Pandora Hearts > D-Gray.Man > FMA > Magi
>>
>>119918436
>D-Gray.Man
No.
>>
>>119918618
Why?
>>
>>119918705
The whole thing went downhill after the tier3 akuma fight. After that, powerlevels just exploded, and the story became hard to understand. Seriously, the whole thing was a mess.

Not sure if it became better later as I dropped it. Heard it was cancelled or something.
>>
>>119918217
It's better to think about it on an individual basis.
>>
>>119919209
This.

>>119918217
Gender does not define writing skills, you SJW cockass.

Women are leagues better at writing josei.

Thanks for listing great examples.
>>
>>119920008
That was the point.

Funfact: if you google "best josei anime" honey and clover's wikipedia page comes up first
>>
>>119918436
that's like the complete opposite of true (except Magi you got it right there).

A possibility might be that female shonen mangaka have a higher rate of mangaka with a love of the demographic and its styles/trappings than male shonen mangaka. For aspiring mangaka, shonen series tend to be safe AND profitable, and there is a general perception of it being easy to write a "winning" series compared to adult-orient demographics. Hence, there are probably more male mangaka writing or attempting to write shonen series out of career/financial reasons, and that kind of outlook is unlikely to produce decent material on average. Meanwhile, while there are certainly female mangaka attempting the same financial security outcome, there are likely more female mangaka that are writing shonen series out of love of the material, percentage-wise per group. I would expect a similar outcome of men writing shojou.
>>
>>119920394
>ending that ties up all loose ends
>bad writing

let me guess, you thought the 03 anime's nazi ending was good writing
>>
>>119920394
>>119920444
Elaborate.
>>
>>119920397
A female mangaka would never sit around playing Dragon Quest all day while complaining about back problems to avoid finishing their manga
>>
really I kinda learned that mangaka's gender has shit to do with anything

except the fact that every middle eastern setting manga is made by a female mangaka and ever Euro setting is made by a male one
>>
>>119920539
Didn't Arakawa work on two different manga while pregnant?

Still, HxH is leagues better than FMA.
>>
>>119920570
I meant Medieval Euro setting
>>
>>119920591
I don't know I like FMA better than HxH

FMA is better at getting it's message across without assloads of exposition, also the heroes aren't morally incomprehensible.
>>
>>119920591
They're my two favourite shounen series, but Togashi's work ethic is atrocious by mangaka standards (completely reasonable by normal people standards though).

I like HxH more but I think FMA is more consistently written.
>>
>females
>better than anything

>All but one Ishvalan was shown to be 'happy in suffering', effectively undermining that one character's feelings of anger
>Reduced an logical reaction to continued oppression to a 'roaring rampage of revenge' with no moral or practical salience whatsoever
>Best dad died
>>
>>119920506
Loose ends were tied but that doesn't mean it's good ending.

The buildup that was made by the whole series didn't give a satisfying conclusion. The final fight felt ridiculous and too easy.

It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either.

Maybe only accidentally. Ranma 1/2 was never meant to appeal to males but it turned into an insane hit in the age 15-21 male range in Japan, and not just because of the genderbending.
>>
>>119920188
For starters, you get that google results vary between individuals, even if you're not logged into google, right?

Second, I have Honey & Clover showing up as the 86th result, just two ahead of "Maple Leaves" (Momiji Ryouran), some random pulp romance nobody's ever heard of. So not the most compelling evidence for your argument. Not that Honey & Clover is bad.
>>
>>119919022
D.Gray Man still has a special place in my heart because when I read the takobons a few years ago, up until the conclusion of the Akuma level 3 fight, and the Crown Clown power up, I believed that it was the best shonen ever made, or up there within the ranks of HxH and Gash Bell.
Looking back I still believe so, then it went to generic shonen shit but I'll still remain loyal to it.
>>
>>119920465
>men writing shojou
Does that exist?

>Allowed one of the perpetrators of a genocide to become the savior and benefactor of the people he slaughtered
Things like that happen in our world too

>Had this same war criminal ultimately supported (with no visible qualms) by an Ishvalan person who was originally trying to disrupt the very system that allowed the war criminal to flourish, thereby undermining him further
You didnt understand scars character development.

>All but one Ishvalan was shown to be 'happy in suffering', effectively undermining that one character's feelings of anger
No they were more which also helped in the final fight with the seal

>Reduced an logical reaction to continued oppression to a 'roaring rampage of revenge' with no moral or practical salience whatsoever
What.

>Best dad died
It had to happen.

This is a really good, well thought out criticism, but I honestly think your expectations are a little high for a battle shounen series. I wouldn't say the writing is bad just because such serious, complex concepts aren't executed perfectly.

>Used to be
>Clamp (クランプ Kuranpu?), is an all-female Japanese manga artist group that formed in the mid-1980s. It consists of leader Nanase Ohkawa (大川 七瀬 Ōkawa Nanase?), who provides much of the storyline and screenplay for the group's works and adaptations and three artists whose roles shift for each series: Mokona (もこな Mokona?), Tsubaki Nekoi (猫井 椿 Nekoi Tsubaki?), and Satsuki Igarashi (いがらし 寒月 Igarashi Satsuki?). Almost 100 million Clamp tankōbon copies have been sold worldwide as of October 2007.[1]
The studio never stopped being exclusively female, get your facts right.

Why is Cardcaptors such an incredible show, the writing, characters, dialogue, scenes, music, everything about it is fantastic. Its bursting with originality, and remains one of the only shows I can rewatch without getting bored of.
Also all of the OPs are great.

As far as I know there seems to be more male hentai artists, since majority of hentai does portray woman as pretty whorish and overly inclided to become attached to your average cut and paste mc, making them as flashy and attractive as possible with energetic personalities, along with amazing bodies. When it comes to female hentai and doujinshi authors from what i've seen they write women in different ways with problems and insecurities, along with being lustful, fragile, commanding, dominant, and generally more fluid characteristics that feel more human. The kind of characters that don't easily fall in love with the typical copy paste Mc but are still endearing with genuine reasons for falling in love. There are always special cases, but to make an example I could instantly tell Nozaki-kun was written by a female because of how fleshed out the female characters were.

Way to prove that you know jack shit.
Any and all doujin events are dominated by fujos and women in general. Just because they aren't scanned doesn't mean that they don't exist. Bleach, One Piece, HxH, they all have tens of thousands of gay doujins. Only Touhou might be able to match that.

He may have dirty hands, but he was fully aware of what he of the destruction he was causing. He's the kind of person who would understand more than anyone why genocide like that should never happen again.

>Had this same war criminal ultimately supported (with no visible qualms) by an Ishvalan person who was originally trying to disrupt the very system that allowed the war criminal to flourish, thereby undermining him further

Change the system from the inside

>All but one Ishvalan was shown to be 'happy in suffering', effectively undermining that one character's feelings of anger

He wasn't happy in suffering, he even said he was doing his part to help because he was part ishvalan.
