Not him, but is the anime any good right now? it seems to be really popular but when it came out I watched like 5 episodes, then I stopped because I thought it was garbage. At the same time I started watching Parasyte with the same amount of positive expectations I had for Tokyo Ghoul, and I instantly fell in love with Parasyte. However I don't think it's as popular as TG. Are the Tokyo Ghoul episodes past 4/5 any good? is my taste shit?btw I'm not much of a weeb and clearly not an /a/ regular, so sorry if my animu ignorance is annoying.

For what the anime tried to do with it's first season run (12 episodes) they condensed nearly 65+ chapters - a lot of the subtleties and details of the story were lost, but overall its not that bad.
I would try to check out the uncensored episodes that were released on blu-ray.
It's second season is diverging from the manga story and is off to a solid start, I would check it out when you finish the first season.
Tl;dr - The anime isn't as bad to people unfamiliar with the manga, p enjoyable. I would check out the manga as well if you end up enjoying the anime.
