Protip: The French won the hundred year war

The anime is set after Joan of arc's death IIRC, and while it certainly isn't perfectly accurate, the only glaring inaccuracy I noticed were the gambesons having holes at the armpits, which means that they were probably based on reenactment replicas made by people who didn't know how to sew them properly.

You are aware that the Battle of Crecy took place in 1346, and the anime is taking place after Jeanne D'arc's death (1431), right?
>>
>>119682429
It takes place in the later stages of the war. Wich was pretty much perfid albion getting raped 24h/24h and not wanting to conclude peace on France's terms to stop the war because they were too buttdevastated to realize they no longer had any chance of winning.
>>119682301
Haven't watched the show yet, but I don't see anything inacurate here, unless it's supposed to be about a famous battle.
Also, I read a bit of the manga, and it's definitly not to be taken too seriously.

1. We saw one French knight, he gave a speech to the peasant levy and mercenary foot, from horseback.

What bullshit, this is during the reign of Henry VI being a pacifistic moron whose weak and ineffectual leadership eventually brings about the War of the Roses, but in France his and Beaufort's policy of trying to bring about peace fails spectacularly as the French realise that with such a king they can get back their land and then some.

Probably not--cavalry was still very useful and practical until the lines solidified, so until the battle of the marne ended and both sides dug in, the cavalry most likely still played major roles, after which they probably just got rid of the horses and served as infantry thereafter.

Most witches in the middle ages were men, so there's that.
Think less Buffy type and more modern African witchdoctor. You know, the kind that chop up albinos for rituals. To cite a much later popular example, seven of the accused witches put to death at the Salem Witch Trials were middle-aged men.

The whole modern witches-as-medicine-women idea was created by amateur anthropologist and folklorist, Margaret Alice Murray, in 1917. Her idea's were capitalized on by Gerald Gardner, founder of Wicca in the 1940's. And that's how people now think witches were female pagan healers persecuted by a heavy-handed church, instead of creepy neck-beard nut-jobs selling curses.

Their sight alone has been known to demoralize entire platoons
>>
>>119691969
No that wasn't what I really implied. I'm saying they invented it, then they somehow lost the technology due to burning the tiny kingdom that produced it or something.

There's no fucking way chinks would do that. Look at Qin and the crossbow. They spammed that shit harder than bronze scrubs did 4 raxing marines back during early SC2.

And it's not like Altair didn't keep chinkland's attitude accurate. Even the old geezer is a sly fox at the end of the day. MC just happened to be able to afford his help.

No, they did in Altair. However, it was a small kingdom within China or perhaps it was Japan that did. Either way, the greater whole of Cinali aka China in Altair took that kingdom down in some civil war or some shit and burned the technology away instead of stealing it for themselves.

It's one thing for chinks to burn books about ideologies and what not, but military technologies? Yeah right.

>Cavalry has had no combat purpose since WW1.
You have no idea what you're talking about.

German, French and Belgian cavalry played a major role in the opening actions of World War I, and cavalry was extremely viable (and used extensively) by the Russians, Austrians and Germans on the eastern front. During the Polish-bolshevik war cavalry also played a pivotal role.
>And by WW2 they served no purpose at all.
Soviet cavalry played a major role in the Russian theatre, and Polish cavalry with horsedrawn AT guns were quite successful in the early actions of the war.

Yes, it was an exaggeration but my point is that, after the pikes were perfected, the purpose of the cavalry was pushed back into scouting, flanking, and transport.
Never in the main field again

Why do people say the hundred years war was England vs France?

It wasn't. It was House Anjou vs House Valois. It just happened that among their titles, House Anjou had the Kingdom of England.

Both sides had French and non-French allies. And both were French families with good claims on the throne.

The war was decided mostly on who had the strongest French allies (IIRC, Burgundy and Brittany) and had the Anjou won, what would actually happen is that King of the French would be their main title.

You are aware every single major nation, regardless of equipment, had organic cavalry at the outset of the war, and some of them (Germany and the USSR) still used them at the end of the war? Germany was hardly "under equipped" and they continued to use cavalry as late as 1945. The Soviets, who by 1944, WERE capable of making as many tanks as they damn well pleased, still actively used cavalry. They were still an effective method of combat.

>>
>>119692811
The Reconquista had quite a bit of intrigue between the Christian states and even within the Muslim invaders (mostly conflict between Berbers and Arabs). There were even times of cooperation between Christian and Muslim leaders to ensure peace.

Spanish territories at that time was actually formed by several kindoms. Portugal was just a county that revolted, succeeded in becoming independent and ended up being successful in war against its neighbors, even against the Spanish.

The age of discoveries was a different time-period altogether (but still somehow linked by certain events). It would also make great fiction fodder.
