Very good episode.

I only wish they wouldn't tell where they were went in the end, just like in Death Billiards.
Other than that, the first episode was fantastic.

The difference between Death Billiards and the first episode of Death Parade is that at least in Death Billiards you could conclude yourself where everyone went and pretty accurately at that.

In Death Parade you would be blindly guessing.

If it will be episodic trash I will drop it. The first ep was already worse than Death Billiards although it was the same shit. The anime isn't clever at all and the characters are generic as fuck, as are the reactions.
>>
I watch Death Parade for the emotional trauma

Slightly disappointed this thread didn't devolve into bickering whether she cheated or not or if the void is a good thing or a bad thing.

After the first episode? Are you retarded, OP?

Anon, you must be some kind of genius. Even now I see no clincher as to where the two men went in Death Billiards.

Unless I'm missing something really obvious.

Obviously you are considering you fail to see the episode in it's entirety which should lead you to a conclusion.

Why the fuck did the woman went to hell, it makes no fucking sense at all.

I'm pretty sure it is implied that she didn't cheat on him, she just said it to give him some sort of peace of mind, you know, the typical "hate me and be happy while being ignorant".

>>119658225
She is still being punished while the guy is being reincarnated.
>>
God damn, at least wait a couple episodes before you start firing off those hot opinions.
>>
>>119658306
>I'm pretty sure it is implied that she didn't cheat on him
She did, Machiko was Matchy. She lied about Machida Yuuki being Matchy seeing how her name is still Machida Yuuki in the ending (despite the wife claiming they stopped calling her Matchy after she married and changed her name)
>>
>>119658267
>>119658306
So what you're saying is reincarnation = heaven? Do you seriously think living on Earth is a paradise? If we will put Buddhism into play, Heaven = Emptiness/Void while being reincarnated means that you need to re-establish your life in order to reach heaven/void.
>>
>>119656721
Not AotS, but definitely one of the AotS contenders with The Rolling Girls, Cinderella Girls and Yuri Kuma.
>>
>>119658376
I see, it is a valid point.
>>
I liked it so far. I have a feeling when they start going into other bartenders I'm going to be put off, hopefully it doesn't focus on them too much.
>>
>>119658376
There's no good or bad thing about either Reincarnation or The Void.

The young guy in Death Billiards clung so hard to life that he eventually got it granted.
>>
>>119658267
Wait. So, heaven is reincarnation and hell is void?

H-hey, loli ;^)
>>
It's great being an ethical subjectivist because that's the true (and best) way to enjoy this show.

Go on, objective morality plebs, keep on arguing about who's good/bad or who goes to heaven/hell (protip: they don't, reincarnation/void is far more complex than just determining who's right/wrong). Anyway, there's too little information to prove anything either way.

What do you guys even mean? You can tell easily where which one went. The man went to Heaven and the woman went to Hell. You can see at the end, above both of the elevator doors is a mask. The one the man went into was a white and more "Holy" mask, while the one the woman went into was a red more "Evil" mask with horns on it. It's pretty obvious where each went.

Shitty paint edit, but here it is. You don't need exposition to understand everything.

Oh boy, here we go. If there's anything I learned from the past few threads, it's that:

If there are more episodic cases like this, the show will have more /a/utists arguing over moral dilemmas instead of the usual waifufaggortry, which is quite unusual.

I don't know how to feel about this

I hope they get the episodic bullshit out of the way fast. That gets old real quickly unless they mix it up with dead people calmly talking about the situation instead of devolving into melodramatic fuck wads.

How they handle the behind the scenes story with the bar staff will show how good this really is because this first episode wasn't really much. Better off watching the Anime Mirai one instead.

Episode 2 is a behind the scenes of what happened in Episode 1 where we follow the 2 girls.
>>
Noh is often based on tales from traditional literature with a supernatural being transformed into human form as a hero narrating a story. Noh integrates masks, costumes and various props in a dance-based performance, requiring highly trained actors and musicians. Emotions are primarily conveyed by stylized conventional gestures while the iconic masks represent the roles such as ghosts, women, children, and old people.

Noh masks are carved from blocks of Japanese cypress, and painted with natural pigments on a neutral base of glue and crunched seashell. There are approximately 450 different masks mostly based on sixty types, all of which have distinctive names. Some masks are representative and frequently used in many different plays, while some are very specific and may only be used in one or two plays. Noh masks signify the characters' gender, age, and social ranking, and by wearing masks the actors may portray youngsters, old men, female, or nonhuman (divine, demonic, or animal) characters.

Onryō (Ghosts and Spirits)
These masks are used for spirits of the dead who have regrets of some kind. In this category there are both male and female masks. Examples of male types are ayakashi, yase-otoko and kawazu. Examples of female types are yamamba, deigan and the famous hannya masks.

Deigan
Mask expressing spite toward a man who has lost love for the deigan. The name deigan, or “golden eyes,” derives from the gold flakes (dei) that form the pigment used around the eyes. The gold pigment appears to sparkle like tears, representing the inner struggle of the character. The deigan mask is characterized by its unfolded eyelids, and the weeping expression is not seen in any of the onna-men. The deigan mask is said to traditionally have been used to represent heavenly roles such as Buddha and is worn by the atojite acting as ryū-nyo to play the role of ama, or female fishermen who have attained enlightenment.

Hannya
The expression of this mask is a fusion of jealousy, grudge, sorrow, and grief of women. It has a demonic appearance with two horns, knitting her brows and stiffening her cheeks. There are two views about the origin of its name Hannya; one is that a monk from Nara Hannya-bō translated the creation of this type into art, and the other is that making the masks of demons required the mask maker to have the wisdom which opens people's eyes to the reality of things, and the wisdom was called Hannya in Buddhism.

Really? It was the most predictable thing in the world. Lovey-dovey couple just married, thei died and now they have to play a game "as long as you are safe doesn't matters what happens to me".

It was obvious which the development was going to be. Can't say I was impressed, it was jut to cliche for something that tries to sell itself as something original.

>>119658987
The white masks implies reaching Englightment, how does it make sense to you that the husband was reincarnated if the Mask was anything to go by?
