Anytime they make an anime series from something originally a movie or OVA, it's shit

Watch Death Billiards if you haven't already.
It's the original OVA and probably better than the show's first episode.

That goes for anyone in the episode.

The original OVA was released as part of a thing called Anime Mirai. Death Billiards was the second one for 2013. Little Witch Academia was the first.

Um, Excuse me? Hi.
What was the point of playing the game of darts if both of their fates were already decided? What if they had not said anything at all and no truths came spilling out? Wouldn't the winner and loser be confused as to why they're going to a certain door regardless of the outcome of the game? Sounds like a load of BS if you ask me.

That is the scene where they enter the elevators.

Unless you mean when they leave them?

He came in on the bad people door because he's the reason they died and most likely because of all the pent up hatred he had.

Also yeah, they changed. Probably because of the results of the game.
>>
>>119592456
Maybe "they" just want to have fun watching people suffer. Maybe the last episode will show this was just a tv show and who wins/loses is decided by a crowd voting. Maybe they fates are not already decided.

>What was the point of playing the game of darts if both of their fates were already decided?
You can change fate, Dekim said so.

>What if they had not said anything at all and no truths came spilling out?
It doesn't have to be about spilling truths, look at death billards. Since everything is set up to make them play with their lives on the line, something is bound to happen.

>Wouldn't the winner and loser be confused as to why they're going to a certain door regardless of the outcome of the game?
It's not like they have any idea about how they are judged and where they are sent. They have nothing to get confused about.
>>

The results of the game are not just win/lose and heaven/hell

The context surrounding the game is the test.
It's their actions surrounding the game that decide their fate, not the outcome of the game.

Just like the young guy who was so desperate to live that he beat the old man to death.
Just like the husband attempted to kill his unborn child to spite his wife over a misunderstanding

Because the scene where she cheats is shown in the part where she's deliberately talking bullshit. We are also shown she wasn't lying about Mitchy, we are shown the husband is extremly jealous and a paranoid, and we are shown that she's sad.

Now, did she cheat? we don't know for sure (hurr durr we see the scene).
But she did talk and act like that for a reason and I don't think she's smart or cold enough to do that just to make him angry.

One thing I really hope we don't get is answers.
I never understood what the old man must have said to the bartender. I never understood why he smiled as the door closed. I never understood which one was going where.

And I think that was the point. If I was supposed to understand it clearly, the bartender would've answered the girl's questions. But he didn't.

I don't really know whether the husband or wife deserved whichever judgement.

As much as I want to understand, I don't think those answers are the point. I think the point is the affective impression of the characters in the moment that they are faced with the situations they are in. The emotions they display, and the actions they choose, and how we feel about them. That I think is the point -for their to be no one answer, but that everyone who watches it should have their own, personal answer based on how the characters, in their height of passion, made them feel.
>>
>>119592851

Because the formula of the show, that is to say, two people playing games to decide where they go after death (or if it even matters), was done so well in Death Billiards that it doesn't NEED to be done again. This episode sort of hammered that in for me, at least right now. Everything that happened, the revelations that the two of them died, the fact that "oh no, they weren't as good people as you'd think", the nebulous outcome to where the two of them went (even though they explain that in the stinger which completely negates the whole point of the mystery behind it) It just doesn't feel like they could keep the formula fresh every episode unless they try some really new things with the people playing the games

That being said, the cast of workers at the Queen Decim seem colorful enough simply from the opening, so hopefully they can carry the show, but atm I'm just not sure.

Reposting thoughts from last thread but the way I see it is the person who is still attached to the world in some shape or form gets reincarnated, hence why both people to get reincarnated had those strings attached to them, sorta binding them to the world.

The person with no more attachments to the world enters the void and leaves the realm of life and death.

>>119592193
I think the wife was lying about cheating, Decim was surprised by it, and she was facing away.

She still got consigned to oblivion for it though, because somehow having an affair is a much heavier sin compared to murder and abuse.

The husband was shown to be abusive (first two times with the darts was by accident, the third time he was deliberately trying to hurt her and screw her over by stealing her dart to score his own board. Not to mention he flat attacked her when she made that 'confession') and was responsible for BOTH of their deaths. Yet he gets to go reincarnate and forget everything that happened.

Honestly if you want an act of real love and sacrifice, she should really have chosen to be consigned to oblivion TOGETHER with him.
>>
>>119593110

The ending is intentionally left open. You're supposed to decide how to interpret the last few events (the words we don't hear, the smile and the question of 'which one got which judgement') yourself based on your impression of the characters during the game.

That was the gimmick that made the short interesting. In the end, you're the arbiter judging them based on that brief window into their personality and lives. The narrative itself doesn't decide the ending.

It's not over analyzing; It clearly isn't as simple as heaven and hell. Buddhism does have the concept of nothingness or the "Void," and reincarnation, so it's at least worth knowing what each of those are, and most people get the wrong connotation out of "Void." It isn't just good door/bad door.

this is a name card for Machida Yuuki, which confirms that Machida Yuuki is a real person; however, the most likely case is that Machida Yuuki was not Mitchy and that Michiko was really Mitchy. Michiko was talking in the third person to express her frustrations about her marriage and her convenient doctor boyfriend. This goes in line with the fact that Michiko did in fact cheat on her doctor husband.

The child died with the mother in the car accident.
Neither of them knew that during the game, of course. The wife still believed she was pregnant and alive throughout the dart game, and the husband had no reason to believe they were both dead, either.

Which is kind of what makes his character interesting. He intentionally threw a dart for her abdomen after being told she was pregnant because he was so convinced that she had been lying to him about everything all this time, that he was willing to risk the fact that he would be murdering his own unborn child just to call her bluff.

The the best part is that while he was right about her cheating, the reason he believed that she was cheating was completely wrong and a total misunderstanding. He knew nothing about the actual affair she was having, and his lack of trust in her came completely from an unrelated conversation that he overheard out of context.

And that conversation was enough evidence for him to risk killing their unborn child.

No Machida Yuuki is the real Mitchy, otherwise there's no reason to show the name card.

That seems extremely farfetched, also do we see her frustrated about her marriage in ANY of the flashbacks?

> This goes in line with the fact that Michiko did in fact cheat on her doctor husband.
Machiko can cheat on her husband even if she's not Mitchy.

If Machiko is Mitchy is completely contradicts the interpretation that she is lying to save her husband at the end, and that's one thing I'm 100% sure is true.

That's way its been so interesting discussing it. The show mostly pictures the guy as mad and hostile, which are almost always the 'bad guys'. Absolute trash. Author dares to declare his shallow understanding of moral and judgment as absolute, on a level not even Kira in Death Note was as arrogant and retarded as script writers here.

While there is illusion of some room left to viewer to decide on thier own on the fate of people involved - its fake, since their fate is decided the moment script writer put them both together to such trials.

An astonishing tastles self gratifying wanking of script writer with pretense of death, for shallow people that focus on the bait given to them and not think about the situation itself. It disgusts me some will take it serious and argue for or against the resolution of episodes.

But guess it reflects the overall level of anime and viewership, if they are ready to accept such a shit.

Anyone with taste, well advised to awoid this shit by all means and try something worthwhile - like Bungaku Shōjo or Hell Girl.

>>119593832
>reincarnation has positive connotations whereas the void has negative.
See, this is why the ending was interesting.
The reincarnation/void dichotomy exists in buddhism, and void is the one with the positive connotation.

But they don't use buddhist terminology specifically, so the actual connotation between the 2 fates is entirely ambiguous

The fact that she had her hands buried in her face in the shot of her NTR moment sort of implies the cheating was a 1-time thing, not an ongoing affair.

Unless her one time nailing that other guy just so happens to line up perfectly with the date of conception, some 10 weeks ago, it's pretty certain that the husband is the father.

Would it be least man made attraction by some mad sociopath kidnapping people- there would be a point in this show. However it takes tries to go supernatural absolute judgement after life and death topic and is beyound shit at that.

You should be asking yourself not "who is guilty/who is not", but who they hell are the moronic forces that bring specific people to those trials and consider their circumstances worth of judgement (script writer for entertainment).

Unless season ends with someon wrecking their shit and sending God himself to hell, you are basically just watching SAW where the psyhopath is actually untouchable and justified by the writer and whose motives and actions are unquestionable.

Maybe she was playing both fields at the same time, one for love and one for money. When she realized she was pregnant she decided to seal the deal with the money source so that her and her child would have a comfortable life and a real family.

She probably couldn't care less about who the actual father is, just as long as someone is paying for it.
