Why do so many people consider this the best anime they have ever watched?
Are they just normalfags who haven't watched more than 30 shows?
Animation wise the movies were superb, but the writing was fucking shit for the most part.
The only movies i really enjoyed were 5 and 7, the others were okay at best.

I generally think all of them have great production values, but story-wise it does suffer, though you can expect that from anything related to the Nasuverse.
I absolutely hated the Epilogue film/special since it was filled with 30 minutes of pretentious bullshit attempts at sounding "deep" and "philosophical" while for the most part everything they said did not mean anything.
Everything else though was enjoyable, but not excellent. I only really liked the Murder Speculation, and I thought Paradox Spiral was incredibly overrated and not as good as people made it out to be.

I agree with this, mostly. I wouldn't call it "fucking shit" without exception, though. Paradox Spiral was good. It's ashame the entire movie series didn't focus solely on that arc in a more chronological way.

I think the novels just didn't translate well to the movies. If someone told me to make a movie script out of a nasu work I would make it even worse. It's not that the story itself is bad, it's just not presented in a good way. It's still enjoyable though, just kinda disappointing and sometimes pretty silly.
Visually it's perfect and the atmosphere is great. If I were talking about production values only I'd definitely say it's one of the best (if not the best) anime I watched.
It's not shit, but definitely mediocre at best. Claiming it to be better than most anime means nothing considering the average anime of the season is Mars of Destruction level bad.

Visuals were gorgeous, animation was great, and the OST was excellent. Story had its ups and downs, but it definitely had some good ups. Going by that, it's overall a pretty good series. Also, the characters were to my liking.

I enjoyed all of them except 7, which I felt dragged way too long.
5 was so superbly well done that I tend to gloss over some minor gripes with the others.
The battles in each of them were a treat. Visuals, atmosphere, soundtrack, everything was nailed.
Characters are a bit older, but still have their fun quirks despite of that. You can tell Nasu was an amateur when writing some of it though. They paved the way for better characters in FSN/Tsukihime.
