The reason why most of the anime community is full of shiteaters (/a/ included, I mean this is the place that claims a series is trash because its popular while claiming generic haremshit #1001 is good) is because we haven't had access to everything the medium has to offer. Some people still either don't know how to torrent or prefer not to.
As much as you hate crunchyroll, if it had existed 15 years ago then right now we'd have a much better community in the west. But in reality, the public get's fed whatever the majority says is good. The majority consists of people who grew up with their sole impression of anime being based on toonami, so naturally a series like Attack on Titan will be seen as the most worthwhile show in the medium when it's airing.
This is also why we have so many haremshit eaters as well. Once they were done with shonen they moved on to shows that were a bit more sexual in nature because that type of anime is the antithesis to what they were used to watching on toonami. It's just as shit, which is the funny part.

For what it was worth, Duo was more entertaining than Yurikuma so far. Yurikuma will depend on a massive payoff at the end. No telling if Duo will ever have that but it's just ok. Both aren't really that great yet. Other than Yurikuma hype.

Having seen both all joking and shit posting aside they both are pretty lame in their own way. No the majority just likes whatever is getting hyped on crunchy roll at this point which could be halfway decent or pretty much mediocre crap in reality but what dictates the reaction at the end of the day isn't common sense or execution but simply how much hype a show is getting at any given time. Popularity and reception of anime has basically become about the same as twitter trending in most venues.

If you pay attention to the news: Japan's in a recession and the Wapanese animu industry is actually dying slowly. It's best title last year sold about 27k units. The best title now just sold 7k. (The upcoming "singing lesbians based on military equipment" taking up popularity and money? Hmmm...)
But the reason anime's "dying," if there's a reason, is that it's all the same. The second reason is that it's depressing as shit. The people eating that type of shit up are dropping like flies and they're not gonna last forever.
The Wapanese animu industry needs to allow some change; some long-term effort to create a new paying audience, and some effort to keed their titles from being the same shit over and over again. Else, it'll die along with Japan and its recession-addled problems.
