Already have around 20 figures sitting in shipping boxes and on the verge of placing another ~10 figure order. I don't plan on legitimately unboxing it until my living situations squared away, however I do my due diligence and open the shipping packages to check for any blatant broken/missing figure parts before carefully putting everything back including shipping paper etc. I wouldn't open the shipping packages at all, but given that they could sit for months on end, I'd rather get any replacements/returns etc squared away within the allotted time frame. Either way it should be pretty fun when I document and open a mountain of shipping boxes in the future.

>>119229717
Unpack as in remove bubble wrap or unpack as in actually opening the figure boxes and pull them out. I agree it's overkill if you're saying pulling them out of the boxes.

Mandarake-tan on the right searching for your orders.

They actually go around with a clipboard looking for the figures, so when you get "item sold out", don't forget the work they put in for you gaijins.

When I went there after C87 day 3, all staff were in cosplay, but I was in a rush and didn't take pics.
There was a cute girl working on the figures floor but I don't remember who she was dressed as. Guy in pic was Harry Potter. The register person was a touhou trap.

Do you think http://www.amazon.com/Sigma-70-300mm-Nikon-Digital-Cameras/dp/B0012X43P2 would be a good lens for figure photography? Sorry for the question

Unless this is EMS you have no reason to even be concerned.
And if it's EMS then it's pretty average considering the holidays.

Toady?
>>
>>119235354
Well, why did you pick that particular lens with that featureset in the first place?

I have yet to get one myself, but people seem to prefer fixed focal length 50mm lenses for figure photography. Those have a lower f-stop than zoom lenses which allows for a shallower DoF and thus more bokeh. 50mm is also considered equivalent to the normal human perspective.

Anyway, you probably should learn shooting with the kit lens before making additional purchases. Lenses are an endless money sink so you should have some basic experience before buying more.

DHL is a huge problem with understanding.. well.. plainly printed address label, basically.

Once they put a sticker over my address, though.

I always managed to retrieve the packages, though, but it takes multiple hours of effort on my part.

I was thinking it might not until the 5th, due to that whole break thing in Japan.

I picked it just because it fits my idea of what I need for my D200, having the 70-300 range allows me to take other pictures as well. And for the price of the lens it seems worthwhile.

Yeah, that's what it seems to be good for, an allrounder that's also good for outdoor shots.
>>
>>119235018
That particular lens is horrible for macro, or generally close-ups. You're better off with the default 18-55mm kit lens that comes with the camera than that.

Talking from experience since I own that particular lens, it's better for outdoors to begin with.

You can though buy a bunch of extension tubes to get the focus down to 30cm or less, since it usually needs past one meter to get a proper focus on objects.

Either stick with the kit lens, or buy the standard nikon 50mm f/1.8. If you're using an APS-C sensor, you want to buy the nikon APS-C 35mm f/1.8 equivalent.

Or if you have money, buy a Zeiss Otus.

Thank God for that 4% discount. I'd never be able to afford it without that.

Cons in an Amazon review:
>-Canon's latest firmware ver 1.1.4 does not have the lens aberration correction data for this lens. As a result you do not get the "in house" peripheral illumin option. So there is some normal amount of vignetting (between f1.4 to 2.8) and a slight amount of distortion that is very nicely corrected by the latest Camera RAW (version 8.4) and Photoshop, which have the updates.
>-You might have to get canon Egs focusing screens to help you focus wide open.
>-Lens hood hard to lodge in the reverse position.
Dat terminology. These people could be completely making shit up and I wouldn't know even know.

Gold plating would actually affect the performance due to the high heat absorption. Thats the reason why canon L glass is that odd shade of beige, it helps insulate the elements from heat.
