So, I-I know I'm late but, I just finished this and I was wondering why people didn't like the last episode. Is it because everyone conveniently get their body abilities back from Taiju-sama for a happy end, or for some other reason? Also what the heck was that fainting at the end for?
Yu Yu Yu thread I guess.
>>
>>119199075
>>
I liked it. No dumbass twists, no bittersweet ending, just happy. Sometimes that's all you need, I think. Also, I assumed the fainting was due to Yuna not being fully recovered. It felt like months since she moved so maybe she was still rusty.
>>
>>119213454
my bad, thanks anon
>>
>>119213483
I thought the same at first, but the way it's handled animation and music wise makes me think otherwise, as if it's something more important. Maybe it's covered by some other material of the franchise.
>>
>>119213673
People were upset because they figured it was just an asspull and never bothered putting much thought into it. Speculation has been running free ever since the show ended though. Most popular ones are around Yuuna still fighting alone (the skit's script title and script might suggest that), either as the sole remaining hero of Shinju-sama (her fairy doesn't disappear like the others after the fight so maybe she wasn't relieved of service) or as an independent entity (her last mankai was without henshin, she touched the Vertex untransformed too, the creators said the series advocates human power instead of miracles or divine power).

>>
I like the theory that Yuna is still a hero. If you notice, she didn't have any petals fall on her, meaning that her guardian thing (whatever they were called) didn't go away. The fainting might be her coming back from a battle.
>>
>>119214614

I'd rather find out what happens next in the story as soon as possible, rather than put that on hold for years while an adaptation of events we already know about comes out.

>>119214664
Another possibility is that Yuuna broke the contract with Shinju at the moment of her last mankai, and from them onwards she was fighting using her own power.
>>
>>119214726
I'm okay with that too. I hope the show does well in sales so we get something new soon.
>>
I thought it was a good show, but not a great one. A little similar to Madoka in some ways, but I think the slice of life parts made me more attached to the Yuushabus than I was to Madoka's characters. Fight scenes were sort of meh and boiled down to "I'll transform/punch really hard." At least the enemy designs were cool.

>>119213299
I didn't like the ending as much as I wanted to because I felt it was too convenient. The heroes win by punching really hard, apparently defeated all of the vertexes, and recover from their injuries because they just do.

I assume Yuuna fainting was because she isn't completely better. None of the other girls recovered instantly.

>>119214664
>>119214257
I thought it was pretty clear the "hero tale" Tougou read was just intended to parallel Yuuna being 'alone' in that she was so disabled she couldn't interact with the rest of the world, and that she was fighting by herself to get better like the others.
>>
>>119215008
>I thought it was pretty clear the "hero tale" Tougou read was just intended to parallel Yuuna being 'alone' in that she was so disabled she couldn't interact with the rest of the world, and that she was fighting by herself to get better like the others.
This line doesn't add up.
>>
>>119214489
It didn't actually say that. Yuuki Yuuna chapter may as well have only just started.
>>
>>119215208
Ooh, I missed that. Good point.
>>
>>119215208
This goes well with the theory about Yuuki staying a hero while the other girls stopped.
>>
>>119215208
Why doesn't it?
>>
>>119216559
Because they all know the hero is alone in that context.
>>
>>119216658
But they don't know she's fighting to come back, only at the end Tougou says she thinks she returned by herself.
>>
>>119216719
They know enough to talk to her everyday and keep believe she will come back. That line still would have little purpose in that case.
Not to mention they have enough precedents to know that sensory and motor deprivation while still conscious is a possibility.
>>
>>119213299
It's because it wasn't a satisfying conclusion to what the actual plot was with the girls caught up in the hero system. I came away not understanding what was actually resolved with regards to the Taisha tricking everyone which was the main conflict of the story, or what the characters actually accomplished. In particular Togo's life being ruined twice as a sacrifice to Shinju-sama and the part where she nearly destroyed the universe in blind and possibly completely unjustified revenge wasn't really addressed.

The ending just said everything was solved and didn't explain why or how. I think this is why so many people are so quick to engage in mental gymnastics and conspiracy theory shenanigans to convince themselves that there was more to the ending than was presented, that there's a twist to it or something.

I don't buy into that because this show was very direct all throughout and because I don't care about anything past the narrative presented in the show. It was a conclusion that didn't live up to what it was built up to be.
>>
>>119217203
You tackled it wrongly from the get go, because the story you care so much about is mainly instrumental. What makes the series shine are the characters and the setting, with the plot serving as a vehicle to develop them. Kinda like the exact opposite of Madoka in that sense, ironically.

>mental gymnastics and conspiracy theory shenanigan
That's a very cheap way to disregard speculation, especially when the ending itself implies a continuation to the story.
>this show was very direct all throughout
This is downright false.
>>
Someone need to retell me the reason why people keep dismissing theory and speculation
and wanting to throwing fact in their face.

All the hint is there and the probability it up to something is high.
>>
>>119218117
Because no S2 or sequel announcement.
Dont get your hopes up anon, franchise get canned all the time.
>>
>>119218161
But with current available evidences, we could work up the most logical conclusion.
>Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.
>>
>>119218161
It'd be stupid not to capitalize on it, and there are more ways to expand on the story than a new season. Novel, manga, OVA, all are possibilities, and the franchise is already multimedia.

And it's obvious they had no plans for a S2, they never expected it to be this successful. So even if it's coming, it'll probably take some time before an announcement.
>>
>>119217579
Saying the characters and setting are the point is a very cheap way to disregard weak plotting. Separating out these elements in a reductionist way is fruitless anyway. I'd say the ending did all aspects of the story a disservice. The setting didn't get a proper spotlight with the revelation of the universe beyond the wall being unaddressed, the central conflict went unresolved, and characters were robbed of their most dramatic turnaround. Togo doesn't have a revelation about the fact that she nearly destroyed everything on an erroneous assumption of Shinju-sama's malevolence, her character conflict is reduced to being sad about Yuuna because of a plot development that wasn't even explained.

I don't think speculation redeems the narrative blue balls, nor does a sequel hook defer judgement to uncertain continuations. Allowing that cheapens the work, saying it's incomplete is an excuse. I'm judging it on its merits as a self-contained story because that's what it should be.

And yes the show is extremely blunt and direct. It is almost TTGL-esque in its over-the-top and hamfisted way of approaching any situation. Fights are resolved by shouting and punching, exposition is spelled out as clearly as possible, and drama absolutely beats viewers over the head. Fuu listening to Itsuki's ridiculously long-winded and specific idol contest submission demonstrates that.
>>
>>119218299
>But with current available evidences, we could work up the most logical conclusion.
No you couldn't. There's not enough evidence to draw a single conclusion so you have people using their headcanons as justification for their own retarded theories.
>>
>>119218406
That why I said we, one logic is flawed and if we keep wok up and fix it, we can fill it to an extent, that extent is the most logical conclusion draw from available hints.

Of course serious plotholes still remain and I dont think people will dismiss the incoherence like the change of Tougou's mind.
I dont think there is too many glaring issue though

>Is it because everyone conveniently get their body abilities back from Taiju-sama for a happy end
It's in big part because of that and the build up to it.

In ep8 you see Yuuna tell Togo that she'll try to find a way to counter the disabilities and yet she didn't even try to find one. She just fought like they always did and they all got their free healing from a seemingly unrelated event.

There was no struggle to find a solution, making that ending look weak on top of making Togo, Fuu and Sonoko (who had several years to tell that it wouldn't heal) amongst others look like overreacting retards. Sadly this weak ending was to be expected since they only had an episode left and there was no way they could leave Karin in that state without healing her.

Anyway, yes, but the fairies always leave a trail of petals when they vanish. And even if it was the same as with the other fairies, the circumstances were different enough to warrant suspicion.
>>
>>119214772
>and from them onwards she was fighting using her own power.

I don't see how this is possible.

The henshins/Mankais come from Shinju. All the supernatural powers we see them posses are from Shinju. So, it doesn't make sense she can then henshin or mankai herself without Shinju.

But I have cobbled together another idea. The girls are often represented as flowers and their hero apps start off as seeds.

Maybe the Heroes are mini-shinjus.

Remember that shinju shadow we see behind Yuuna? Maybe that's her shadow. But how would the Heroes become Shinju? The best way I can say it is maybe Yuuna is Neo. Yuuna, a Hero, was injected with the prime shinju code. That's what allows them to become Heroes. Through Koujou/Willpower, Yuuna was able to take over that part of her that Shinju lends Heroes.
>>
>>119222039
That whole idea stemmed from how ascension into godhood is possible in Shinto, so in a sense Yuuna would be in the process of becoming a god herself.
>>
>>119222428
We need to make sense of that idea. People just don't become gods. There has to be mechanics involved. I know about the shinto myth thing, but this idea gives it more weight.

Shinju is a practical god. It gave Heroes power to fight its battles but then changed the system after Gin's death. But it didn't just make Heroes immortal for nothing. It needed something in exchange. That suggests Shinju isn't a Genie that can make something outta nothing. So there has to be some mechanism in place that orients what Shinju is doing.
>>
>>119222606
I agree. I'm not advocating the idea that she's becoming a god, just mentioning it because it's been thrown around a lot.

The way I see it, Yuuna did something special involving KONJOU in her last mankai, and that data allowed Shinju/Taisha to develop a hero system 3.0 and that's what's Yuuna and maybe Sonoko, she's only seen fully recovered after Yuuna is fine as well is using.

>The fainting might be her coming back from a battle.
No, heroes always get teleported to shrines after a battle is over, no exception.

Her fainting was because she wasn't fully recovered, and more importantly to reinforce one of the core messages of that show. The stage play mirrors their real battle, and after she killed the final boss, she went into that vegetative state, on stage she faints after defeating the villian. After she fell all her friends came rushing to her to help her up, as did her friends care for her and never give up on her while she was in the vegetative state. The message is that a hero needs friends and can't do everything alone and should not shoulder everything alone. That's one of the core messages of that show and Tougou went astray because she had forgotten about it, she went off alone, in her thoughts, experiments and conclusions instead of talking to her friends about her fears. Even further, the same thing goes for Karin, in the beginning she was rather aloof and arrogant towards the others but her battle performance in the big battle was underwhelming. She only was able to go all out in ep.11 after she proclaimed that she was part of hero club and fighting for the hero club. Oh, and Fuu only went berserk because she kept her own fears about their disabilities hidden inside until they exploded, instead of talking about them. And regarding Itsuki it was about her being able to sing in front of others which she managed to achieve with the help and encouragement of the other girls.
Heroes need friends.

Best I understood was that the girls were (like Buddhist food offerings) offerings, not (traditional) human sacrifices. Thus what was offered was able to be returned at some point in time. What we don't know was when or why it was returned. Did they become too much of a threat/liability towards the end or what it them all going log mode that the tree god decided 'they are useless, I need new ones'.

That doesn't excuse the fact that most of the drama was then perpetuated by taisha being cold distant idiots making it be about two misunderstandings in terms of them not communicating well to the girls (making them suspicious) and interpreting the gods use of their bodies wrong.

I could be wrong, haven't read any threads about the game.

That's my point about it being suspicious. We have no way to prove in either direction that they did or didn't know about getting their limbs back. The bonus chapter is told from Sonoko's perspective and Sonoko's knowledge.
Don't forget, no hero before those six has ever been released from duty by the Shinju-sama, so it has never happend before that a hero got their body functions back. This was a first and Taisha probably didn't really know if or when something like that would happen since it's up to the Shinju to decide. Given that the messages from Shinju are symbolic and are interpreted by Mikos there's probably a distortion and not much clarity in them. Maybe Shinju did somehow tell them that it would get better but they didn't know when and how.
>>
>>119232109
you mind quoting the part where it outright stated that taisha lied? remember that most of what sonoko found out was through conjecture. sure, she may be bright and very insightful, but one can't go on without much data.

>>119232137
>Not something you can say with a straight face when you have a mummy log bedridden for two years and counting.

taisha doesn't have much data either, but it would be too early to give up given that they did not have enough information at that time
>>
>>119232195
>Maybe Shinju did somehow tell them that it would get better
If it did, that would've been a nice and reassuring information to share with the girls. I'm more inclined to believed they're totally in the dark about this.
>>
>>119232195
>Maybe Shinju did somehow tell them that it would get better but they didn't know when and how.

A miko announced she saw vivid images of yuyuyu daily life and smile face scenes which let everyone welcome the defeat of the vertices with happy smile face.
>>
>>119232222
Not sure if you're just playing devil's advocate or what, but lying by omission still counts as being dishonest.
>>
>>119232222
Well Taisha did say they are investigating. It could be that they are trying to solve it.

They did say Mankai need fine tuning at WaSuYu and add sealing so 'killing' vertex should be possible and lessen Mankai usage.

I bet they never expected Vertexes would attack in full force forcing the girls to go Mankai.

just to note, back during the airing i hated taisha, but then i realized that they themselves were in the dark and trying their best to improve the system.

it's similar to many dilemmas we have today: people don't trust authorities too much but if authorities tell everything the people will panic. a more parallel scenario would be war recruitment

sure taisha was dishonest, but 1) the Hero System is still in its infancy and 2) being fully honest with the girls will make no one join the program, endangering humanity at full

Not that anon, but I think you misunderstood. It's not that everyone dislike SoL, it's more about people that dislike SoL would drop YuYuYu during its peak of SoL episodes.

Of course NNB would get a high score, since the ones watching it would have expected full SoL from start to finish.
>>
>>119233998
I never said that people who hate slice of life are relevant.

The relevance of people who drop a show is just higher, when a series is not yet finished, compared to when it's finished. Because they would be more likely to rate halfway, when they drop the show.

A lot of other people would rate when they watched all of it, instead.
>>
>>119233553
>>119233998
What am I supposed to infer from this?
I dont go to MAL but is there a huge difference from 7.55 to 8.08? They look like they are almost equally rank.
>>
>>119234229
That shows that are straightforward about their content from the start are more likely to end with high scores due to less people dropping it and giving it low scores halfway through.
>>
>>119234229
NNB is ranked #416
YuYuYu is ranked #1255

A score of 8 or more will land you into the top 500.
So there is quite the difference between a 8+ rated show and a sub 8 rated show.

Shinju is literally fossilized. Shinju originally was not even a single entity, he his all of the Shinto gods of the Earth and its beings combined into one entity to make a lifeboat for the remainder of humanity. He cannot return back to his constituent gods without breaking apart the bubble and killing what is left of humanity.
That means he cannot go on the offensive against the gods of heaven and also cannot feed himself energy.
Yuuna as a new god is capable of movement, of fighting and beating the vertexes and stardust. She can carry the fight to the gods outside and also go out and bring back resources that Shinju needs to maintain or even grow his power.

Taisha was lying to them because Taisha was afraid to let the girls know that the way to get better was to cease being Heros.
They were to afraid to go without Hero's ready to stop vertex incursions, didn't understand that Shinju's energy crisis could be rectified by killing vertexes in his presence so he could absorb their energy,
They were to afraid to try anything that would have fed Shinjuu faster, like risking a big battle against a large number of vertexes and stardust at once, or by having Shinjuu withdraw the fairies and have the girls fight with just hero suits and the sealing spell, which could of allowed them to use more or even all of the hundred odd hero candidates at the same time instead of only six, but some of the girls would have certainly been killed or crippled for life instead of just temporarily.

No it didn't work out as planned. Shinju needed to raise his power level so he could make the barrier impervious to Vertexs like it already was to Stardust. Fighting the vertexes only when they chose to come in, was not killing enough of them fast enough to change the issue, while it was running down the girls mentally and physically. The Taisha thought they were being kind in not telling the girls the whole truth because they could not imagine a situation where it would ever be safe to let the girls off duty, as they were too afraid to let a truly effective number of not just vertexes but stardust as well in as it would result in a battle they had no guarantee of winning with only six Hero's- a limit incidentally they had brought on themselves by praying to Shinju for Hero's not to die anymore. The fairies are all actually minor Shinto kami. All the kami who still loved humans had combined to make Shinju, releasing the minor kami to be the Hero's personal bodyguards was actually breaking a piece off of Shinjuu- and therefore a piece of the vessel keeping all the humans alive, and making Shinjuu weaker.

They were gambling that the girls would kill enough vertexes to feed Shinju that the power problem would be fixed before then.
Problem is they were not.
It took the combination of Togo's suicide attempt letting in a truly enormous number of not just vertexes but also stardust who normally cannot get through the barrier, and Yuna turning out to be a god and being able to defeat the Super-Leo that was created through her willpower alone.

Color coding is a means of telling a characters personality in both sentai and magical girl shows.
Being purple means she combines both Togo's analytical abilities and Karin's physical abilities and determination.
That would in turn mean that Orange- Gin- combines Karin's physical attributes with Fuu's love of family and care and compassion for others.
Pink however is red and white. Red means she has similarities to both Karin and Gin, but what the heck is White? Does white stand for divinity?

Trees eventually die too. But they do live a lot longer the most flowers and bloom every year.
Dead trees also take a long time to collapse and can remain standing for years while supporting all kinds of life in their standing hulk. Saprophyte plants, birds, insects, small mammals all use dead trees as a home.
Shinjuu is the dying or even dead tree, Yuna is the new young flowering tree that will supplant Shinju.

Except in Sentai costume shows where it means you are the token girl.

It's not dying, what we normally see are just the roots, it's upside down.

IIRC some anon said Aiura 07 has a boy whose VA is Gin's. Is this the right one?

Yes, but in mahou shoujo pink is the new red. Thought red still retains most red characteristics and pink becomes about understanding and befriending instead.

That's not how roots work.

Makes sense, especially considering all the leaves in Jukai.
