I think it's the whole sacrificing that makes it creepy. The idea of "Nagisa" sacrificing his "life" so Rei could go back. It's not something we expected from Future Fish.
And yes, Sosuke was about to die in his mook and Rin stayed with so it could be considered a sacrifice. But we knew that would never happen and they'd escape somehow.
