Hmmh, I guess I can focus on fairy-centric humor yet again. I did recieve one suggestion from an anon to do a sequel to the "poison" one where Gyuuki eats up an entire aisle of jerky and udon while Egg-kun was stopping Togo from shoplifting/downing a poison bottle.

A bunch of people jumped on the train after the suffering started in hoping it would end in a bad way. They got disappointed and are angry now. To be fair, it wasn't really clear what route it would take in the end given how bad the LN ended, so it could have been either. Personally I love my happy ends and I'm satisfied.

>>118874214
I think they felt cheated.

First the creators kept saying that this is a healing anime and not suffering anime. They also advertised it as SoL, school and ask the viewers to enjoy watching cute girls doing cute things.
Then in the anime, Taisha keep saying that sange is only temporary and not permanent. Mind you, they are a group of guys protecting the last bastion of humanity. So clearly they are good guys and have humanity best interest at heart.
The viewers all continue to refuse to believe it. They felt tricked and trolled so of course they will call it a copout.
>>
You know I was extremely worried about whether or not they would be able to pull off a satisfying nonasspull ending in less than 20 minutes, and seriously worried about it for an entire week, but despite this I still looked forward to the last episode even more than I did for christmas. I guess I had a lot of hope for the last episode, thinking that they would either find the one clever way out that I couldn't find or just do a martyr ending but really really well.

Then this happened.

I think I felt so much disappointment I went straight to apathy. Now I only skim these threads instead of reading all the comments in every single one like I did for the past week. Rewatched the entire series and then the last few episodes half a dozen more times during that.

I pushed several of my friends into the series during that so they could experience the ending with me and now I don't know if I should tell them to keep going. I don't want them to feel this much disappointment.

All I wanted was a good ending. Not a happy one, or a sad one, or even an amazing one. Just a good one. Decent would be fine too. Not something that was rushed, didn't explain anything, and asspulled. Even just one more episode could have fixed a great deal of this.

This is fucking depressing. How could something get screwed up this badly when it was going so strong?
>>
I think I understood what slice of life meant when they left one of the girls almost quadriplegic.

>>
Why didn't the Taisha just recruit a whole platoon or even a company of yuushas instead of half a squad so they could overwhelm vertexes with numbers instead of needing to mankai?
>>
>mfw with the duty officially over for them, it's most likely that yuushas will not be supported financially by the Taisha
>mfw Fuu will have to work to support both her and Itsuki
>mfw Yuuna and Tougou will also need to work hard to pay for their livings
>mfw Karin may as well be added to the mix

This will either create the most heartwarming SoL series of them working together, or spawned the most terrifying doujins ever on how they "work" to pay for their expenses

>>
>>118874487
The LN was the true ruse here.
Given how the show alone felt I would never have doubted a full happy end ever.
Reading the LN though gave me serious doubts.

Basically it's the old conflict between people who care more about characters and people who care more about stories. This show started off as the first kind, then pretended to get an interesting story yet went full back into keeping the characters intact at the expense of a unique story.
>>
How did this close the hole? Did they even close the hole at all?

I hated the ending at first, but now I kinda like it.

It was mentioned over and over again that their disabilities had no physical reasons. So getting healed in the end wasn't out of the question.

The problem with that was Sonoko being a red herring. Why did she suddenly grow her limbs back? Unless she had them all along and the animators couldn't draw her right, which would be disappointing by itself.

I also like that Yuuna is not daijobu at all and probably still fighting Vertexes as yuusha while hiding it from her friends.

Shinju-sama regrew it. After Leo was defeated there was this giant stream of light coming from the soul again and Shinju-sama started glowing too, it probably takes the energy of the defeated vertex into itself to strengthen its barrier.

Given that Leo is the strongest and that its soul turns into a billion of tiny lights, Leo's energy is probably enough for Shinju-sama to keep its barrier at full strength and not let any vertex in for 2 years, after that the battle begins again. That new batch of vertex could only enter because Tougou blew up the barrier, otherwise they would have been on standby outside for a longer while.

The idea is that she got dizzy on stage because in that moment she went off to fight vertex duting a timestop.

I'd be happy with a happy ending that wasn't so badly written.

There wasn't any reason given for anything getting better. The writer simply reversed a previously established worldbuilding fact, with no explanation. I liked most of the show but the ending was exactly as bad as it could have been.

What makes you think that?
Taisha said it would get better.
Sonoko did not get better over 2 years so Tougou concluded they were lying.
Think about it, Wasshi/Tougou never stopped being a hero, over those two years she always was a hero, had always her fairy and all. They were the first batch of heroes to be released from duty by the Shinju-sama. The Taisha probably didn't know if and when the Shinju-sama would decide to release them.
After their hero powers were taken back, their body functions slowly came back. It all makes sense.

>only yuna's fairy not disappearing + no flower pedals on her

not sure what else you need besides the writers coming onscreen and saying it

I sort of can appreciate not being spoonfed an ending for once. It doesn't feel like a copout either, since it fits the series' main theme of knowing the truth and how painful the truth can be. So not telling you everything outright feels intentional and not because of time constraints and such.

A good ending to a great story.

Not this. A bad ending to a great story. Which is worse than a bad ending to a bad story since you have hope and expect it to be good.

I don't need people to die or suffer for the ending to be good, but if they were suffering massively before and suddenly stop with no believable cause or explanation as to why aside from the fact that the writers just wanted to write a happy ending then you get something like this where the entire thing felt hollow and empty for me.

And what do you mean by MORE death? Only Gin died, and that was before the anime.

>>118875337

I was emotionally invested in the characters too though. Pretty sure everyone was. That doesn't mean you should butcher their story for their sake though, because in the end the stories a character is a part of is a part of them. Having everything just magically become better belittles everything they went through. Not to mention this specific ending means all the suffering they went through was based on misunderstandings, miscommunication, and Taisha just being retarded.

The only reason they come over as dark and evil is because their members always wear those stupid masks and they communicate in a weird way. Don't forget, the taisha is essentially made up of several families that belong to it. Behind one of those masks could be Tougou's dad or Sonoko's mom.

Okay, I understand! I don't think the story was butchered in the slightest. I felt as though the final episode was a series of great scenes with solid direction put together smoothly to create a meaningful conclusion consistent with the themes of the narrative.

All the imperfections of the Shinju and the Taisha seemed really cool to me. That whole issue in particular kind of reminded me of Kaiki from Monogatari where he says something to the effect of "I don't really understand anyone, but I'm going to continue doing my best." It draws attention to the idea that there's this governing force that protects the last of humanity and they really do mean well, but they've fucked up pretty bad on multiple occasions and have trouble properly dealing with their rag-tag team of middle school girls. This really comes through in that they give the girls phones that allow them to interface with the system, it's like some weird attempt to play to the demographic and draws attention to the whole god-human communication problem.

Anyway, I can't help how the series made you feel; that's about as subjective as it gets. It made me feel great. Please continue to watch things you enjoy and remember those five tenets.

>>
>>118875678
>The only reason they come over as dark and evil is because their members always wear those stupid masks

That is very far from the only reason. Though it is one of them.

>Refused to let Sonoko talk to the heroes
>Not telling the Heroes they will lose body parts when they Mankai despite knowing this
>Not telling them there are more than 12 enemies despite knowing this
>Manipulating the lives of the girls so they would meet
>Conspiring to put an amnesiac cripple back into combat knowing they will lose more
>Replying to every inquiry about their physical defects with a copy pasted "There is nothing wrong, we believe it will get better"
>Fairies refusing to let Heroes die even if they want to
>Seriously worshiping these girls as if they were sacrifices

If they knew body parts came back they could have told them BEFORE THEY LOST THEM which would have cleared up a lot of misunderstandings that led to Fuu trying to DESTROY THE TAISHA and Togo attempting to KILL GOD AND END THE WORLD.

If they thought bodyparts DO NOT come back and Yuuna pulled something unexpected, then they are still lying pricks who tricked our characters into being sacrifices without telling them anything.

So either the Taisha failed to mention vital information because they are incompetent, or they didn't mention it because they don't give a shit about the negative aspects of what they are doing.
>>

My only complaint is how they handled Tougo's motivation in the last 3 episodes.
First, she was the type that loved people and wanted to protect others, even strangers.
Then, when she realised everything outside their world was fucked, she went all "BETTER DEAD THAN CRIPPLED" and decided it was better for the world to end, because the enemy were too many.
It feels dumb, out of character, and is not justifiable in any way. It annoyed me how Fu told Tougo no one was at fault of what happened, when Tougo was fully at fault. She put what was left of the world at grave peril, just because she herself didn't want to keep on living and didn't want to be forgotten.

It really felt as if the writers had no idea how to end the series, thought that making Taisha the bad guys would be too clichèd. so they opted on Tougo going full retard for the sake of drama.
>>
>>118875994
>But they were right

But they still didn't even tell the girls they would lose limbs before they lost them. Causing misunderstandings assuming they actually knew the defects would be fixed. Causing the Taisha and/or world to almost be destroyed.

And they probably didn't know they would be fixed since the only three heroes before our current five all continued to suffer from the problems they gained from Mankai until the end. Sonoko also happened to get fixed the same time as everyone else despite being injured for two years longer.

>>118876044
But it was coming from a group that was shown to be doing many shady things with no reason for the viewer to ever assume they had the character's best interest at heart. This is a lack of foreshadowing.

>Not telling the Heroes they will lose body parts when they Mankai despite knowing this
What's better? Have motivated heroes who don't know and fight with all their powers or have heroes who are reluctant to use their power from the beginning on?

>Refused to let Sonoko talk to the heroes
Of course not, they would have immediatly known about the body parts.

>Not telling them there are more than 12 enemies despite knowing this
There are 12 and they hadn't been defeated by the first hero group, only driven back. So Yuuna's group was the first one to really kill vertex. Taisha probably didn't even know that they were being completely rebuild in the beginning.

>Manipulating the lives of the girls so they would meet
That's not evil, they just send them to live at certain points and made sure they form a close group to be able to fight well together.

>Conspiring to put an amnesiac cripple back into combat knowing they will lose more
Given how close the battles against the vertex ended there was no other way. The vertex were still existing and would come back. It's about protecting mankind, not about shoving a few girls around to be mean.

>Replying to every inquiry about their physical defects with a copy pasted "There is nothing wrong, we believe it will get better"
Which turned out to be true. They didn't say, probably not even know that to get better their fairy lease contracts had to be revoked.

>Fairies refusing to let Heroes die even if they want to
Because letting your elite fighters who are the only hope of manking freely suicide is such a great idea.

>Seriously worshiping these girls as if they were sacrifices
Well, those people are absolutely serious about worshipping Shinju-sama and the more power they get the more they become like gods and closer to the Shinju-sama.

Taisha behaves like a usual organization that has to deal with various conflicting things and tries to do its best in protecting mankind.
>>
>>118876122

>>
>>118876132
Explicitly stating how the series will end is about as straightforward as foreshadowing gets. Just because you didn't believe it doesn't somehow make it not foreshadowing.
>>
>>118876132

>But they still didn't even tell the girls they would lose limbs before they lost them.

I would like to think that would affect their ability to transform. It's hard to say if it's justified when transforming to fight vertexes relies on the users mental state as well as the will to fight.
>>
>>118876238
But there was literally no reason to ever believe it.

And how would the Taisha even know that it was possible? Again, there are only 7 heroes and none of them had ever recovered from a Mankai until that point.
