After a long (hours-long) wait, the latest Egg-Kun comic is finally here. I'll be posting some more comics and taking (not too complex) requests to hold you over during the wait for episode 12. Think of it as my Christmas gift to you guys in case Takahiro really does ruin that holiday.

Now, don't worry, I have nothing against people who love yaoi or yuri of their favorite characters, but Egg-kun sure does.

The Taisha are comically bad at managing the heroes. After 4 of them lost body functions after going mankai and Sonoko told Yuuna/Tougou the truth about mankai, they made two actions, sending Fuu bullshit, and sending Karin a vague message to fix everything. Fuu rebelled against the Taisha, and Tougou rebelled against the world. Their trump card was a girl they admittedly didn't trust and were scared of, and their only leverage was to try and guilt trip her into keeping the world around.

The result is obvious, the world is about to end, and the Taisha's failure at managing the heroes is the main thing to blame.
>>
Why do I care about this series so much? I feel like I don't only want to protect the Yuusha smiles but the Yuusha series itself.

Is this what being cancer feels like?
>>
>>118822568
How would the Taisha have kept Fuu from destroying the Taisha if Yuuna hadn't stopped her? It's reasonable they might have thought they could use Gin's sacrifice to get her to protect the world (even though that failed), but why would she protect the Taisha?
>>

One of the most horrible aspects of all this Takahiro rampage is that when GochiUsa 2 comes along, I won't be able to look at it in the same light again and enjoy the cutesy SoL. I'll probably go PTSD and have keep spouting heroes can't die like some mantra. I'm so fucking healed that if I'm healed more I'll die.
>>
>>118824911
From the LN and the VN, we learn that Gin's old terminal allows any suitable hero candidate to transform guaranteed instead of relying on the Shinju's choice.

So...
>Choose your character at the beginning of the game
>Your chosen character gets logged
>Taisha gives your character's terminal to Anoko.

I honestly can't imagine any truly good end to this show short of a complete asspull deus ex machina or "the Vertex were good all along" twist. Best case scenario based on how I understand things to work given previous details given would be that the Hero Club girls fend off the Vertex, don't get too horribly messed up by Sange, and manage to convince the Taisha to let them retire to live the rest of their lives in peace. But they're still living in a world sustained by human sacrifice, so I can't honestly call that a "good end". It just means the suffering buck gets passed on to someone else besides the characters we know.

I honestly wouldn't mind a deus ex machina end if it were suitably heroic...

Since the whole thing also involves the theme of kamikaze pilots and WW2, and of Japan being closed off to defend themselves against destruction it's probably like this.
You know, the reason why the Tokugawa Shogunate closed off Japan in the 17th century was to eliminate the cultural and religious influence of Portugal and Spain since Christianity was spreading in Japan too and they tried to fight back against it.
So there you have your god who wants to destroy Japan. Given Tougou's nationalism that symbolism makes a lot of sense.

You're working off a translation.
西暦 literally means western calendar and doesn't actually refer to Christianity. Common Era is a less weighted translation for the phrase.
That line in the LN is just to clarify that the calendar system of 神世紀 (the Divine Era, or the year of the gods) is meant as a successor to Anno Domini/Common Era/Christian Era since it's a huge turning point as opposed to something like Showa to Heisei where it's merely the death of a Japanese emperor.
The entire Tokugawa Shogunate takes place well into the "Christian Era".

There's a reference in Sonoko's diary to the "archaic" phrase ズッ友 (zuttomo), which is kinda like BFFs in that it's a shortened form of "friends forever" and only came up recently in the real world (2012).

The VN also references another "archaic" phrase, お疲れサマンサ (otsukare-samantha) which dates to 2010 in the real world.

>During World War II, the cherry blossom was used to motivate the Japanese people, to stoke nationalism and militarism among the populace. Even prior to the war, they were used in propaganda to inspire "Japanese spirit," as in the "Song of Young Japan," exulting in "warriors" who were "ready like the myriad cherry blossoms to scatter." In 1932, Akiko Yosano's poetry urged Japanese soldiers to endure sufferings in China and compared the dead soldiers to cherry blossoms. Arguments that the plans for the Battle of Leyte Gulf, involving all Japanese ships, would expose Japan to serious danger if they failed, were countered with the plea that the Navy be permitted to "bloom as flowers of death." The last message of the forces on Peleliu was "Sakura, Sakura" — cherry blossoms. Japanese pilots would paint them on the sides of their planes before embarking on a suicide mission, or even take branches of the trees with them on their missions. A cherry blossom painted on the side of the bomber symbolized the intensity and ephemerality of life; in this way, the aesthetic association was altered such that falling cherry petals came to represent the sacrifice of youth in suicide missions to honor the emperor. The first kamikaze unit had a subunit called Yamazakura or wild cherry blossom. The government even encouraged the people to believe that the souls of downed warriors were reincarnated in the blossoms.
