Should I go with jap audio and subs or is the dub any good?
Asking because some older shows do seem to have a good dub.

In my opinion, the only thing that really matters are music and visuals. I prefer the Japanese audio, but that might be nostalgia goggles. I watched the show when a German channel aired it completely in two nights on a weekend, so I have no opinion on the English dub.

The last one I am half way threw I have happy as shit of the different accents in it. It's like they just walked the streets and grabbed no ones with more than english accent. It was a nice surprise.

Well guess one way to find out. Thought the OVA was really rushed plotwise, didn't care for any of the characters nor did I understand why Deed liked Parn, and Parn never really become a good swordsman. Maybe it will be like that original Gundam for me, loved the TV show, hated the movies.

The dub was decent by dub standards. Nothing grating but nothing that remarkable either. Had a lot of the same people that worked on the Slayers and Pokemon dubs.

I'd to say that dubs for western settings are superior, but it always seems weird because of the animation of the lips, even if they are synched correctly.
At least with Japanese, we are not taking cues from the lips since most of us don't know Japanese to be able to tell.

I prefer the Lodoss dub but that might be because it was the how I first watched it on saturday morning anime on scifi channel. It's not like the Outlaw Star dub where I go back and realize it's not as perfect as I remembered.
