The epilogues for Volume 6 and 13 contain vital plot points not included in the anime. Read those first if you really want to skip past what's already been adapted.
The anime covers the basic plot, but you miss a lot of thoughts and inner monologues from the LN, and most of Touma's fights also didn't translate well into an animated medium. The Deep Blood and Angel Fall arcs were also particularly butchered in the anime.

I'm pretty sure he said he can only use mjolnir as vision while in almighty so when he relocates earth he knows where hes going.
